For you finding God was something that changed your life for the better, for me studying meditation and using ritualistic experimentation of drugs like lsd and dmt changed my life and gave me a positive outlook that I didn't have before. There is definitely something more to it than it being a fad. People have been exploring those spiritual practices since the beginning of humanity. I personally believe that all these things can coincide with God.
