    Re: Wikileaks worldwide reaction

Eh, its classified information for a reason, whether it be right or wrong and if you like it or not. (I'm not going at one person, I'm just saying). Parts of what's been released should have been public, but other things, its been done without thinking of the consequences.

And the people doing stories on Anonymous in my opinion is stupid. What they've done is cause a minor disturbance in the system. And it wasn't even the entire system, it was just online. The masses needed to bring down Amazon.com would be enormous.

In reality, nothing is being achieved other than boosting someones ego.

            Re: Wikileaks worldwide reaction

Let me just add, though, that obviously this is a very tricky topic to debate what is the most morally responsible side to put yourself on. Ultimately, the only lives that were in danger come back to faults from world powers and governments in the first place, and I sincerely believe him when he says he censored out crucial information -- I feel that although there may be informants at risk, if you are an informant you are ultimately knowingly putting yourself at risk -- it is a conscious decision. I'm not saying it's an easy decision, or that it's a completely free decision and I'm not saying that I approve of any deaths that indirectly come from this --

-- but I think those deaths really are the fault of the U.S. government in the first place for storing such data, the faults of those who the conflicts revolve around because those informants would not have existed. In general these documents, to me, are classified only to protect the images of various governments throughout the world -- not because they actually contain information that the public "should not know" / "cannot handle"

The fact that there are human lives now at risk is not the fault of Assange, who clearly had the intention of exposing the corrupt administration for what it was, and the fact that the documents reveal truths of how many, many people ACTUALLY died, who was responsible for those deaths, and most importantly provide justification to the families of that lost life. It is a very, very tricky moral ground, but ultimately it is blindly obvious (to me) that this country has completely forgotten what genuine free speech means, what it is worth and what it means to maintain that right -- Wikileaks was absolutely necessary and could not have happened at a better time in history.

            EDIT:
Found a video I've been searching for: http://www.colbertnation.com/the-col...nded-interview

And also when I mention "informants", there are hardly any actually revealed in these documents, actually there ARE zero, the only informants revealed are those that can potentially be pieced together from context clues revealed in other documents, but watching that interview again I was reminded on how he contacts all of his sources before publishing anything. So yeah, it's classified for a reason, but I mean Hitler had his concentration camps and the reality of the Holocaust classified from the German public -- did that mean that it was pointless to rebel against it?

I see why you are indifferent, but the issues discussed go far beyond a soldier reporting on ish he saw, believe me. Read for yourself. The main reason people are hyped up about this is:

A.) For us in America, it means that our government is finally getting called out
B.) For other countries, it means that the American government is finally getting called out

some things should be kept classified i understand but most things shouldnt

i wanna see where they are keeping alien bodies i know those fuckers have found them and dissected them lol

                    Re: Wikileaks worldwide reaction

From what I've heard (I haven't read much of anything), the only documents that've been released that don't sit well with me are ones that gave out places of interest that if damaged could be detrimental to the U.S.

Yeah I see, I'm not really informed about all this, I was just wondering what advantages you have knowing all this. I might do some research tomorrow.

Skullcandy, not to 'call you out' or anything, but out of curiosity do you know which documents specifically?
