Jailbrake, Root?

Alright idk if there's a thread about rooting and jailbraking, but I've rooted my Mytouch 4g, and it's been awesome for a hot minute, but my cameras been acting up, like it'll work once and then it'll start to lag alot and the camera goes upside down and shit. So I was thinking I'll return it to the stock and unroot it then call T-Mobile because it's still under warranty, and have the give me a handset exchange, but what I'm worried about is that they'll see that it's been rooted and bitch & trip about it coz I've read it voids your warranty when you root you device.
Can they tell if I return it to stock?

I don't think so, but you have to uninstall your cydia apps (if you have them)
If you only unlocked it, it should be fine afaik
