  • Any Skaters in here?

I have never skated before in my life but have always wanted to.
So just like Wayne, I want to get my first board and try it.
Any advice or stories of your first try at skate boarding?

      Don't be afraid to fall.

      You will fall...A LOT.

Don't be mad if you can't land anything, keep on practicing.

PLEASE, if you're gonna buy a board, at least look the part.

And when you fall, get back up and try it again.

I used to skate but it gets pretty boring and frustrating if you dont want to do it on the daily. if you want to learn tricks hitup a skatepark, skaters are mostly cool and will help you. or you hit up youtube

Luv skatin', but I don't have a board atm. I never got that far back in the days when I had one either. I could do ollie's, and almost a heelflip.

          I gotta get skatin' again...

            Re: Any Skaters in here?

was sponsored by a local shop back in high school. like they said, if u fall, get ur ass up and keep trying...watch how other skaters position their feet to learn tricks but everyones got their own style so if something works better for you than the way you're seeing others do it, then do it your way. i still skate...i suggest a girl board, a chocolate, skate mental, or a krooked

or a stereo deck...and depending on your shoe size if u got big feet, get a wider and longer board (8x32) and smaller feet (7.5-7.75x32)

and DONT DO HANDRAILS UNTIL YOU KNOW YOU'LL LAND THEM! I probably wont be able to have kids cuz of a certain lipslide down a 12 set 4 years ago....ouch....pissed blood for days

I used to ''skate'' when I was 12-13 but then it got boring, but I was never really dedicated too it (didn't care to learn tricks and such)

                        Re: Any Skaters in here?

Be prepared to fall and fall hard. It takes some time before you're used to skating. When you get on the board, make sure the foot that's on the board resting is like in the middle of the board or slightly higher than that. That way, when you skate and need to just coast, you have room for your pushing leg and can rest up. Turning is simple; just adjust your weight on the board. Lean forward, applying pressure with your feet and you'll turn in that direction. Lean back and apply pressure with your legs and you'll turn in that direction. Oh and please don't try any grinding or grab/flip trips anytime soon lol. It'll end horribly for you dude. Once you got just basic riding down, you can look for some online guides or find someone that can teach you tricks step-by-step. The first thing to practice is called a bunny hop (google it). it'll get you prepared for the ollie, which is crucial is you plan to do tricks.
