I'm writing a song called "King" and one of the lines go:
"I'm a G, with K-I-N behind it.
'Cuz my family behind me, supporting me until I'm dying..."
One of my old old songs has a line that goes:
"I run the streets and never ever have to take a rest.
The rest of y'all are all behind this G, like A through F."
And it sparked days worth of controversy with everyone who heard it because apparently if a letter is "behind" another letter, that means it comes after it. So they interpreted it as "GKIN".
To me, this makes absolutely no sense. We read from left to right. So wouldn't it be logical that anything that's to the left of a letter is considered "behind it" if we're moving from A to Z? So I asked them, name a letter that's behind M. And they all said things such as "N, P, Q, Z" etc. They then directed my attention to my old Lil' Wayne poster, and asked me is the "Lil" is front of, or behind, the word "Wayne". Of course I said behind, and they disagreed again.
Maybe I'm wrong, idk. But if I am, they damn sure didn't do a good job of explaining it to me. Because letters/words that come AFTER another sure look like they're in front of it to me.
Who's right?
