It's whatever you want to make it. The 15 dollars is to help contribute to the running costs of the entire website. The hidden forum is purely an additional incentive and also gives VIP members something to post in if they want it to keep it private from the rest of the forum.

Everyone has paid except former staff members who get it automatically when they "retire" or we demod them. I got it free back in the day from my GFX contribution to the website a few years ago back when Danny was changing the forum from PhpBB to vBulletin. And MeMe got it because she did the HQ logo. Everyone else has paid.
