    Best: 2008. everybody, from Kanye, to Wayne, to Jay.....everybody was making dope music that year, it was just amazing

    Worst: 2010. Eminem was all over, not a bad thing..but NF and LTWYL got too annoying and that's all I remember from that year. Wayne was on jail. Kanye was still getting blamed for his shit. Drakes album was the best thing that year and it wasn't all that tbh..

      I can't actually select a year so i got to go with '03-'08. Definitely a major breakthrough of hip-hop in mainstream music. Everywhere you go, every channel/magazine you see, you could see hip-hop "marks" so to speak. Everywhere was just Em, 50, 'Ye, Weezy, Hov, maybe add some T.I. and Game (rest of G-Unit also).. the list goes on..

      Don't know about the worst year/period tho.

                        I agree for the most part with this dude here, '03 was a great year;
                        2003.

                        Hip-Hop was accepted with a diverse sound commercially, and this year was the embodiment of that on all ends. OutKast’s “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” made alternative Hip-Hop a true staple in Pop culture, certified Diamond as well. 50 Cent’s “Get Rich or Die Tryin” displayed that the thug persona is still as powerful as it once was in the 90s and was still marketable and acceptable. The 90s didn’t have the longevity that its made out to seem. Jay-Z’s “The Black Album” if it didn’t already put Hov on the number one platform, one of the few rappers to make it out of the industry’s death trap that many of the late greats fell victim to (Mind you, Jay-Z was allegedly going to quit rapping after this album.). Lastly, Little Brother’s “The Listening" was a classic in its own right.

                        The production on all of these albums was top tier and did not conform to a single sound as some of the prior years had, not to discredit them in any way. Featuring the likes of Kanye West, Andre 3000 himself, The Neptunes, 9th Wonder, Just Blaze, etc.
                        Main Albums discussed:
                        OutKast - Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.
                        50 Cent - Get Rich or Die Tryin'
                        Jay-Z - The Black Album
                        Little Brother - The Listening

                        The worst year of hip-hop most be either 2009/10/11. Yes there was great things going on, but it seems like hip-hop really changed and was becoming more and more about beats and not lyrics. You know, every rapper started doing trap or bass-heavy records and lyrics kinda drowned in all that.
