Maybe a WW3 COULD happen, not likely in 2013 tho. To many alliances such as NATO , UN , etc that the international community can work together. Its not Early 1900s anymore , we've learned from our history.

As for Syria, we're likely to drop cruise missiles because of the chemical weapons they are using. The only problem WE have from there is Russia, saying to not to interfere with them but even then it isn't likely Russia would just attack us. That'd be suicide.
