First off, I want to start of by saying that the creation of the world is something humans can't imagine. We don't possess the mind of God so we can't even fathom how life was brought into creation. The words of the bible are the best way for God to describe it to us in the most simple terms.
1. The moon is still a light, wheter it's original, or reflected lol. It is still a light.
2. All that was needed to separate the light and the dark was to make the earth spin on it's axis..in relation to mankind.
Darkness is absence of light. It was dark, God made light. He seperated the two. But the two both coexist.

Does Verse 11 come before or after verse 3-5?
God created light, and put the sun, moon, and stars behind the light for the purpose of night and day.
And you can grow plants without the sun btw, using another source of light..
