Okay lets look at a scenario

A kid grows up in the hood, he sees his older brothers gang banging, he wants to gang bang too, he becomes a gang banger,
boom he wasn't influenced by the music right? But he still jams gangster rap all the time and hears it playing all the time. Now did listening to Gangster rap keep him in the hood mindset? or did it try to tell him to be positive and try to get out of it?

It didn't keep him in the hood mindset, it's just music that they like. If the artists themselves make music "that promotes criminal behavior", then why don't they continue bangin when they become famous & succesful?
