depends, there have been different takes on godzilla, when they started it was all serious, than they got into making movies about him directed for kids, than they went with a mix of both after
i would say just watch the original godzilla movie from 1954
thats where this movie is going to be based off of mostly

i just watched it again the other day on netflix, its a good story, up to you though
for this movie i can see it being cloverfield like because it deals with how the people would respond to something like this happening, except it wont be from a first person view
it'll be a mix of cloverfield and a toned down pacific rim except monsters fighting monsters instead of robots fighting monsters
Call me a hipster but I don't always like big budget movies. They tend to focus on the money rather than the story line and the message. And with movies like these there is never any message, just big stunts and people fighting.

Its what catches many people's attention. They like these type of movies
