The governments of the world have told the people since the well, 50's I would say that there is nothing in space and we are alone. Imagine how shocked people would be.

Have you ever heard of people being abducted? Or cows being killed in odd ways on farms? To this day, there are easily over 100000 reported and documented cases. They are all very similar as well.

Our government made a deal with a certain race of aliens called the Gray's saying if they would give us technology, they would be allowed to take a certain number of humans for experiments.

The biggest lie is that the universe is empty. Our universe is filled with life everywhere.
