    1. What is a college education?

You do realize they offer free online courses at almost any distinguished school in America. If you have an iPhone or I believe any smart phone works, you can download two of these apps.

    Coursera,
and Itunes U, (need an iphone)
they provide excellent classes for any subject of your choosing, taught by professors from schools.
You can look at their webpage and see all that is offered

    https://www.coursera.org/

And its all for free. When you first register for a course, you won't believe the quality that you get for free. It's the same online courses that people pay for, offered to for free. Of course, you don't get a degree at the end of it, but the power isn't in the degree, its in the knowledge.

    2. I educated myself also in my spare time. If you believe that I sit around at home, jamming gangster rap and smoking weed, then you would have me completely wrong.

I posted this on my facebook a month ago, you can search it up

"If you decide not to go to college, it's still your RESPONSIBILITY to learn"

I stand by that. I love learning. I learn new things all the time in my spare time. I'm teaching myself piano, I posted a video of that on my FB, you can check for that too, and how to speak Spanish right now. I use the tools of the internet and whatever else I have.

    3. So what is a college education really?
You a paying, for a degree. Your paying to learn, you are paying to sit down in front a professor, while he teaches you,
you are paying, for a degree. You are paying money, for a chance to earn more money.

    4. You are also paying for a college textbook that you use 3 times a semester.(haa, )

    5. But, you are paying... for a degree. If you want a master, guess what, more money.

    6. Did you know, in Libya, they pay their college students....

Lemme say that again, in Libya...

    they pay

    their college student

    to

    go

    to college

    they pay

    them.

    7. So, do you think your better than people who decide not to go to college? Do you think the fact that you attend a university, makes you better? If so, why?
Okay Deion. This is where you get to sit down for once and listen to someone, because this one is going to be long.

    1. I beg you to go to an established employer in America, present them with your resume and say you took some free courses online and that is why you should be a: lawyer, doctor, teacher, nurse, lab assistant, surgeon, engineer, politician, accountant, financial analyst, etc. They will laugh in your fucking face.

I somewhat agree with you with the power lying within the knowledge and not the degree, but you need a degree to get anywhere with that knowledge. I will have a pretty powerful degree in software engineering, but that won't get me anywhere if I don't actually know any programming languages or I don't having programming experience. Luckily I do because of my university education.

    2. I don't think anyone thinks you sit around smoking weed and listening to "Gansgter Rap" because you are too good for that shit. You sit around browsing the internet for conspiracy theories that will help keep you relevant on a Lil Wayne fan forum.

    3. Yes I am paying for a degree, but I am also paying for the opportunities that the degree and being at university comes with. It is because I'm at university I am able to join teams where I am able to design and engineer formula-one style race cars and compete with them internationally. It is because I'm at university that I can design one of the biggest programming competitions in Canada and network with some of the biggest software companies in Canada and the US. It is because I'm at university that I can take part in a co-op program that has helped me get a job every summer of every year, in my field doing coding, paying at least 20$/hour. It is because I'm at university that I can get an internship next year for 16 months programming for a company that will pay me 25-35$ an hour and will probably be hiring me immediately after I graduate. It is because I'm at university that I will get my Professional Engineer's Licence and will be able to be a professional engineer in Canada (and other countries that accept PEO designations).

Deion, can you say you can do that stuff because of your online courses that do not offer any degree?

If I didn't go to university for software engineering, I'd be stuck back in my hometown, working at Staples as a computer salesman making minimum wage.

Because I went to university and took part in co-op and internships, I will be graduating with zero debt, with a decent enough surplus to buy a new car.

    4. Only chumps pay for textbooks in university. Everyone downloads them for free.

    5. A lot of engineers are fortunate enough for their companies to pay for their Master's degree, even though I probably won't want one. I'll have a nice enough job as a software engineer.

    6. Isn't that called Socialism, Mr. Anti-Obama ?

And lol at Libyan education system, sorry if I offended any Libyans on these forums. I would never go to fucking Libya for a paid degree. Maybe to France if they still do that today, but never a war ravished nation.

    7. I do not feel that I am better than anyone because I go to university. There are loads of people at my university that are dumb as shit. They are mostly in the Arts/ Social Science/ English/ Non-Science areas (again apologies for anyone on these forums I offended). I actually met someone that worked for GitHub (large software company) that started working in the software sector right out of high school, he didn't need to go to university because he was too smart already and had the skills needed.

People like you like to get things like this twisted. There are people in this world like the man I met, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerbug that dropped out of college and became extremely successful. They dropped out, or didn't go because school was too easy for them. I highly doubt that college was too easy that you dropped out Deion.

Also people that start their own businesses, learn a trade, go to college for technician studies are all very valuable and they are no less or more valuable than a university educated person in the sciences.

Going on websites like those you posted do not make you successful, especially if you are taking Spanish lessons. Hey maybe if you learnt some Java or some Fluid Dynamics on the site, you might make some real use of it.

Last point, I know you can't do probabilities to the level of people that study them in college. I will show you some questions if you wish to challenge me on that.

For engineering, most schools in Canada require you to take Calculus, Advanced Functions, Physics, Chemistry, and English in your final year. Because I went into software engineering I took programming in grade 11 and grade 12, but I never had to to get into my program.

I don't know where you are from, but usually if you are going into the Sciences, you are required to take those five courses. I would recommend taking a programming class in high school because it makes programming in college so much easier.

1 . You are still insinuating the fact that the only way to be successful is through college, which is wrong. A college education is good to have, but it isn't something to shove in people's faces either. Learn to be humble, it'll take you further.
The only reason I talked about those online courses and learning spanish and all of that is because you think that all I do is look up conspiracies and what not. I'm not saying I replaced College, with free online courses, I was saying that in my downtown since im not doing anything, I just keep my brain sharp. That's it, nothing less, nothing more.

I wasn't posting to try to make you change your mind about college, I was posting in a direct response to how you view me, which Im started to ask myself why Im typing all this out for cause I couldn't care less.

My post was a direct response to the way you view me.

I posted about Libya, not in hopes that you would study there,
I posted it because it shows what they think of education, compared to North America. Do we value Education enough to pay our students? Is it a money Issue? Of course not, we send millions overseas to isreal lol (there I go with my conspiracies)

As for the money thing, yes you do pay for hands on experience that you may only be able to get at a university, but maybe they should offer it other places also. That would be cool. They probably do.

            2. In a 24 hour period, when I am not asleep, I probably use maybe 30 minutes to an hour looking up "conspiracies". Im interested in America's history. I'm interested in false flags and such, I'm interested in things that are in my real life. I like looking up things related to 9/11 and making accurate assessments from research, I like looking up these skull and bone societies that presidents have been inducted in, I like looking up free masonry and seeing what they are all about. I like information. I like all of those things, they are interesting to me. It makes everything so much clearer in life. I like reading about what Obamcare is truly about instead of just listening to CNN. Im a thinker, and a researcher. It's what I do.
I like reading about common core, which is an awful new curriculum that was introduced to America this year, look that up.

These are things I like to look up and read about.
These aren't conspiracies? Why are they conspiracies, because a big news outlet doesn't report it?

Did you know that there is an oil spill currently in Lake Michigan, and thats one of Michigans water supplies,
and there was one in dallas I believe just last week,

Did you know that in the months of feb - march, 12 bankers all mysteriously died, and all reported to have committed suicide?

These aren't conspiracies, these are truths, that small new stations report, in a specific city sometimes. A local news reports it, so only people in that local area knows about it, and they put that news online on their News websites, and then someone gets the link and talks about it on youtube, and provides the link in the description,

and then just because its on youtube.

            it becomes

            a

            "Conspiracy"

I am not interested in what lil wayne ate for breakfast, Im not interested in the release date for young thugs album, I am not interested in the latest MTV Shows. I don't care about whats trending on twitter. I don't really even use social media that much. These things are all boring to me. I see no significance in knowing about any of these things. I don't care who lil wayne collabs with, I don't care who Mila Kunis is dating. I just Don't care about these things.

Are you really going to make fun of someone who thinks like this?

Someone who prefers to be knowledgeable about what happens in the world, more than other things.
And yes, I go work out at the gym and play ball and stuff, and hang with friends, but when it comes to talking about who won a grammy, i just don't care man lol.

Im gonna stop numbering these paragraphs lol.

Iight I just read the rest of your post.

Im just gonna end it like this, because you turned this argument into something else and I don't really care about what you think of me dropping out of college. If I believe I can be successful without college, I will. And I never said I wouldn't go back, its always going to be a choice.

Dammmnnn I'm going to college in 3 months!

                Your post is inspiring though
I could sell Sweet and Low to Sugar Ray Leonard!!!

I bought textbooks first year, then I realized that all of my textbooks were online and I could get them for free. Just think 1000$ of your money that is spent on textbooks can now be spent on beer/ food.

Im just gonna end it like this, because you turned this argument into something else and I don't really care about what you think of me dropping out of college. If I believe I can be successful without college, I will. And I never said I wouldn't go back, its always going to be a choice.
You are correct. Going to college doesn't always make you successful, it depends on the program you take and what you make of it while you are studying. There are other ways to become financially successful. I hope that one day you can become successful by learning a trade or starting your own business if you do not decide to go to college.

I really do hope that you can become successful some day Deion. Also know that there are lots of opportunities out there for you as a young black male to go to college or learn a trade in America. My cousin (who happens to be black) goes to school at Howard basically for free from all of the bursaries that he receives. I'm sure that if you looked hard enough you can find a path that suits you.
