Well what can my eye's write, this gonna happen. because he wants it done, plus electronics just a passion. its life!
Simply put, a transistor is a semi conductor yes. but three terms (collector base emitter, depending how you apply the voltage to base and/or collector, transistor switches, and spell's voltage, increase current and might just "burn" it up.
Same goes for "BJT" or "FET" just different variations/terms.
Now think of this try puttin 3 people in a group and get the result
