Now, you can do it in realistic way, but the design would only show like half the Earth.
So they did it in unrealistic way, to show every part of earth.

The design has to be flat, in order to show whole earth on the flag.

They wanted to show all nations in their proportional sizes. They could have used Mercator projection, but that makes some continents appear bigger than they really are.

They made the earth on the flag flat, to show all nations, because it is United Nations.

So you rather trust youtubers, than your own common sense?

Youtubers make money off of youtube, their JOB is to create idea so stupid, that at first people will just watch to laugh, but then some other people find the video, and they see it has lots of views. But their mind is limited, they see lots of views, and they think it's actually true. Because if it's not true. How would it have 100k views?
