Hard to explain, idk if you're familiar with ingame trading for games like CS:GO, Rocket League, etc..
Short story. You trade ingame items via ingame trading system in said games, you make profit, you exchange to ingame virtual currency, and then you ask for paypal $$$ for your ingame virtual currency.

    Example.
In Rocket League there is White Zomba wheel worth 150k.
1 Key is worth around 0.90$.

There are also numerous other items, some worth under 1k, some worth over 1k.
So lets say via trading with different players, I managed to get White Zomba wheel.
Now, I'll trade those wheels for pure 150 Keys.
Then I will sell those 150K for 135$ on PayPal.

It's easy for me, cuz I love the game and I enjoy trading.

There's more into it, it's like a real market, actually, it is real market. Prices change based on demand, new items are added, and so on.
Sounds complicated, but once you get into it, it's not that hard.

    EDIT:
Game is not free tho, it's 20$ or less if you buy on third party website.
    I got mine for 8$.

Because you can buy those "keys" (ingame money) with in-game system like in all those online games, and 1 key costs 1.59$ to buy, in-game.

So of course, if you collect enough keys via trading, you can sell them to people who will buy those keys for 1$ more or less, because it's more profitable for them as well.

They use those keys to open chests or buy expensive items.
