  • Why are millennials so sad?

I've been researching a bit about Millenials (1980ish to 2000) because according to research they are the most depressed and anxious generation so far, aswell as being so young.

Things they mention a lot is being in debt from collage, not being able to get a job with your degree, and not being able to own a house. people mention technology never allowing us to turn off but shit TV has been around awhile.

So what up homies, why we all sad? I'm a 25 year old dude, didn't go to collage, working a job and stacking some paper living with my parents which I'm algood with. At this point I wouldn't know how to buy a house. But I consider myself pretty happy.

weird topic but depression is a big point in our elections coming up so that's why I been gettin into it all

what is the true def. of a millennial though? I was born in '89, didn't finish college because i saw that it was just going to get me a piece of paper and a heck of a lot of student loan debt. Plus my career(s) i was aiming for didn't really require a diploma, but more or less a skill set.

I'd consider myself Gen. X. Most if not all of my friends are doing fine and have houses and cars and good credit and finished college etc. There's always a few fuck ups. Hell even my friends that didn't finish college like me still have decent jobs.

Heck i have a career i've been at for 6 years with no college diploma.

I think the government has enabled millennials hardcore, especially the Obama Admin. Everything from products, music, the way the youth are treated, etc turned these millennials soft and made them think "I should be able to have everything that my previous generation has.....for free!"

What they fail to realize is that we worked for this shit haha!

millineal is Generation Y, renamed now that there is a trend in direction we are heading. But good call because a lot of Gen Y does not consider themselves a millineal. The more research I do, the more I feel researchers are out of touch with the age group, and do a poor job and deviding us from the next generation born (2000+ (most likely called the Internet generation)

pretty much, I'm not going to consider myself a millineal, as I don't feel I relate.

Discussing Generations is like politics, lots of questions with no answers, and everyone has there own point of view they will firmly stand by

yeah houses. Shit work in summer, wage isn't the best but lots of hours. You train well working and can qualify to earn more cash. Good trade to be in, the world is getting pretty hot!

Maybe its because we recognize problems that the older generations neglect, and that frustrates some of us?

We have it much better than the older generations did, but there are still alot of social problems that dont get enough focus. I feel like a significant portion of milennials want a purpose, they don't want to be working as a slave without advancing their career. While their boss gets richer. Unless they like the job.

The school system definitely has a role in this. If you're different from the norm you need to be fixed,
you need to be drugged, you need to become this piece of a puzzle, so you fit perfectly with the rest of society.

It's a system that promotes growth of mental illness for eccentric gifted children. Instead of nurturing creativity, interests and helping these kids reach their full potential. They just get the same education, and in many cases drugged. There's not enough focus on individualism. Different kids need different approaches.

Also, significant portions of millennials are heavily stigmatized. Even though older generations use more alcohol,
tobacco and illegal drugs. Millennials use of cannabis is at a higher rate. And most drug arrests are for cannabis.
In most countries people lose crucial rights and benefits if they are arrested for it, and it affects everyone differently.
Some become stronger, others kill themselves, become drug addicts, depressed, radicalized, homeless etc..

Now I'm not saying that these problems don't affect older generations too. But they grew up in a time where they had more serious issues to fight. Womens, workers and civil rights etc.. Some of them might not even be aware of the issues we face. Because our problems ain't shit compared to what they had to go through.

TLDR: frustration with states ignoring real issues, different mindset because of new opportunities, school system flaws, drug criminalization.

''They say they want the drugs to stop but imma major setback when my album drop''
