Haven't got one either, but I don't want to pay rent and would like to take advantage on saving up for a down payment while I live with my old folks. What would be a descent amount of a down payment?

It depends on the size of the place you're looking for, I mean if you wanted a small apartment then probably around 10k - 15k to even be able to apply for a mortgage.

The bigger the place the more your down payment and the more your motgage will be each month. I'm currently saving up about £50k to put a down payment so I can get a proper house.

I would advise don't rent, it's hard to break the cycle once you get into it.

Crazy how regular folk struggle to get something small when there's people like Lil Bow Wow spreading it in a dumbass way.

Yeah I know what you mean, they flaunt how they buy these big ass houses outright and in cash and we gotta pay off a house for like 20 years

Re: How much is your mortgage?

I'm on unemployment at the moment making $185 a week. I'm going to start paying off these credits cards with my next check and start looking for a job. I'm going to need to save up for a car first as I have no intentions on fixing up my Cadillac and would prefer something with a better MPG like the Honda Civic. The good thing is that the card with the biggest balance rests at $700 so It shouldn't be hard paying those suckers off, bad thing though is that I'll only have $125 for Valentines and the rest of the week...I guess I can make it work.

Re: How much is your mortgage?

Well im still an undergrad, the school I go to is about 15 min away from my home so I live w/my mom for now. Im thinking about going to 2 Graduate schools out of state so it'll be mortgage time after that. Or i'll just live at home for a few months, get my money up and get my own place if I dont go to grad. Its kinda 'crunch' time for me since im graduating and its time to make that life's decision: do I wanna get a real full time job and NOT go to grad, or do I wanna get my masters/PhD? FML!

I think you've forgot about the interest rates that come with not paying off cards on time

But damn $185 ain't a lot for a week, I think at my job I make roughly 10x that a week
I feel for you not having a lot bro
