Re: FR3SH Take: Why 'Tha Carter IV' Failed (REVIEW)

First, i don't think C4 is a fail, obviously because of the sale and because i like it. I think the problem is that wayne is very unique and a lot of people like him for that and a lot of people hate him because of that. Of course he's always talking about the same thing and using the same type of lines that's what he does and that's what he will always do. I don't understand people saying he didn't say anything smart on C4, lines like when life sucks i just enjoy the head is just classic, I think most of people only hear the words life sucks and enjoy the head and are like : oooohh he said that before, but the thing is it's a creative way of saying I try to see the good sides of bad times. I prefer that to people saying things like every dark cloud has a silver lining ( i know wayne said it) because everybody said it before and it's deja vu. Weezy is still relevant IMO has a lyricist he just needs to correct his image and get new producers.

Really solid review. I wouldn't call C4 a failure, but I do agree with this.

          Holy shit.

          It goes: C2 > C1 > C4 > C3

Mixtapes: Da Drought 3 > Dedication 2 > No Ceilings > S4TW > Dedication 3. (Not counting the Sqad Up mixtapes)

Wayne had the potential to make a classic album and just chose not to. That's the problem I have with the album. How does he spend a year in jail and not even talk about it on the album? That makes no sense to me. He could have made 20 songs about his experience but yet resorted to his usual random punchlines about "laying n*ggas down". And why is he talking on every song now? He's barely even rapping anymore. When I hear him now I feel like he's reciting a poem (She Will). Say what you want about IANAHB but atleast he was still flowing on that. One more note, how do you have tech n9ne, andre 3k, and Nas on the album and just throw them on the interlude/outro?? It's almost as if Wayne didn't feel like matching up with them on a real song. Is it laziness? Is he turning into Birdman? I don't know. Don't call me a hater because I have a Weezy poster hanging on my wall. I just hate to see my favorite artist waste his potential. And I know some of you are thinking the same.

I still like C3 Over C2. im not retarded. C3 was so unique and sounded like nothing ive ever heard before. Thats what got me addicted to Wayne. i became a fan after i heard C3, and then i went back and heard C2 And i was blown away that this was tha same rapper. So much different than any other artist, and then he goes Rebirth.I loved that too,i love how he changes. Every single song on C3 + C3 leaks are amazing. C3>C2, just my preferance.

album certainly repeats alot of wayne common punchlines and to me many of them sound like he was being lazy, just repetitive. its a fail if you thought that the carter 4 was gonna be a classic hip hop album. at this point it feels like that is not the point of the album rather than just selling and doing new things which while its fine to experiment it falls flat because i felt like i heard the lyrics before. i mean when you put out as much music as wayne does, how many times can u spin weezy f baby and the f is for... or how many different ways can u say you eat girls or you the shit like wayne seems to do in every song?

you guys act like all rappers are allowed to talk about is pussy money weed, which is insane. Wayne said himself that he looks at music as a form of journalism. does CNN ever run out of topics to talk about? are they still talking about the same stuff as they were 5 years ago? of course not.

if Wayne used President Carter as his formula instead of PMW, we wouldn't be having this conversation about his songs/style becoming stale. so "he's been in the game forever" isn't an excuse for sounding repetitive on your ninth album.

Idk if there's anyone else that could be the face of hip hop. He has fans of every degree and culture. I didnt expect this many after Hearing the deluxe... For so many things to mess up (TEZ!!!!!!!) and to still pull these first couple day numbers.... HOW CAN YOU ARGUE?

If he makes another album after c4 that sells like this again, he will be the best rapper alive. Maybe not the best lyricist, maybe not the best flow, but undoubtedly the best rapper.
Sp ur saying: more money = better rapper?
It's kinda right as success but that doesn't mean he us the best. If ur statement is right then birdman is a legend to his generation

He made some good points, thought the album was not a fail.
Even though he's kept his same sort of structure and style doesn't make it shit, why would he change the style of his music? it's how he is recognized and that's why he has so many fans

Wait, wait, wait. What the fuck is wrong with yall? Carter VI is a dam masterpeice just like "How to love" before anybody seen da video and actually got what he was rappin bout. Yall kill me with this hatin shit. Every song on here can be dropped as a single. People keep givin it bad reviews because wayne is too hot right now and other folks can't shine. How can you give a album a bad review and its projected to sell dam near a million copies, we all like the album for different reasons. See lil white boys like it for those go hard lyrics and beats. NIGGAS, on the otha hand like it for da songs, we already know the verses are gonna go hard. People keep talkin dat punchline shit, Wayne has always rapped like that, why you think c3 and no ceilings did the numbers it did, or any other album, that's what we know him for(Punchline make it sound good rappin). What da fuck was yall expecting. Every single he dropped was off da chain and ended up on bilboard 100 or 200 and was also outplayed on the radio, shit i still hear how to love and john and 6'7 in the top countdowns on tv and on the radio. Now if those singles are still bangin, wait til he drop videos and sigles such as "mirrors", "So special", "President Carter", and so on. It's gonna be epic, watch. Yall need to quit hatin, look at the numbers. Plus there was a leak, so you knew wat you were buying b4 you copped it. So fuck all yal thats givin it a bad review and a extra fuck you to those that call themselves fans and still hate on da album. Don't jump back on his dick when the album sells a million plus or when the newer singles drop.

"So special"- classic- John Legend killed the hook and its mellow, one of my fav songs on the cd
"Two shots"- classic- My fav song on the album, it's already in da club, for those old enough to get in da club.
"Ya bullshit is stinkin up the place, but me no tink bout dat, me out-dunn da place"(jamaican voice)
"I like the view"-classic- i heard Dis song in da club already also.
                          "President Carter"- classic
