You do realize that negativity and inappropriateness sell, right? Many people have deemed Lil Wayne's music as misogynistic, yet people continue to buy it. Though this does not relate to "selling" per say, look at all the people on the Internet eager to watch the J. Cole and Rihanna sextape (if it ever leaks or even exists).

Bruno Mars was caught with cocaine. Lil Wayne, as you said "smokes, celebrates, skates, and fucks." Also, there is usage of profanity in the song. I guess Mirror cannot be a mainstream song. I guess any songs by Bruno Mars and Lil Wayne should never have any mainstream sucess.

But you said that WTT is more mainstream than C4 because Lil Wayne "smokes, celebrates, skates, and fucks." Not every word of every line of every song is about the aforementioned things. Plus, there is some of that on WTT as well. And profanity offends many people; that is why the usage of it is often frowned upon in public.

Mainstream just means it is liked by "the masses" and clearly they're more willing to buy Wayne's album and it is clear far more people love Wayne meaning Wayne is more mainstream.
