Weezy gotta pay $500K but only because he didn't bother responding to the case.
Lil Wayne's legal issues have piled on but it seems like some of them haven't gotten to his desk. Unfortunately, that means that Wayne's gotta cough up some dough for some of them. According to TMZ, a judge has ordered Weezy to cough up $150K in a lawsuit claiming that he created fake booking companies to set up fraudulent shows. So, it seems nearly improbable that Lil Wayne took time from recording or skateboarding to create a sham company for a few bucks. The reason he was hit with a $500K judgment is that he failed to fight the lawsuit against him.

Ramin Natan sued Lil Wayne and Migos earlier this year on claims that they were "Ponzi scheme artists" who created shell companies to take money for shows that they never even intended on performing at. Natan said that he gave out a $500K loan to another gentleman, Eric Strenger, who was allegedly promoting some Lil Wayne shows. The thing is, Natan believes Strenger lied about actually being a promoter and had issues with Wayne from the jump. Natan said Weezy took the $500K deposit but never actually took the stage or returned the money.
Wayne ultimately never responded to the suit in the first place so the judge hit him with a default judgment. Whether or not he plans on fighting it remains unclear.

Highly doubt Mack Maine and Tez are out there incorporating shell companies in the Caymans...a scheme of this nature requires hiring lawyers to carry it out, which I also doubt they would do. That is way too sophisticated

This is not very lawyerly of me to say but I understand why Wayne just takes the default judgment on all these lawsuits he gets hit with. Probably costs more in legal fees to fight it than to just pay up. And before they can even make him pay the judgment, they have to enforce it, which is a whole other hurdle. Its not the legal advice I would give but from a cost/benefit perspective I see why he does it

I'm pretty sure you get paid back all your legal fees if you win the courtcase. The loser of the case is usually ordered to pay the winner.

No, unfortunately it doesn't work like that. Getting reimbursed your legal fees is the exception, not the rule. Only a narrow category of cases outlined by statute entitle the winner to attorneys fees and the rest, you will not get your money back even if you win.

And even if you fall in one of those special categories, it requires a whole other court battle where you have to prove you meet the legal criteria for getting paid your attorneys fees, which is usually a very difficult thing to prove...and then even if you win that, if the other side is broke, which happens alot, you won't be able to recover. So...kind of a hot mess. I imagine this is the calculation that gets made when people ignore lawsuits like this
