Dre has released 2 albums in 18 years that were written primarily by other people lol. I don't think anything about Gillie writing for Wayne back in the day has ever been confirmed, but Wayne sure as hell has been coming up with his own lyrics for a while now. Knowing someone has a ghostwriter makes me lose a lot of respect for them... JMO though. IF Detox ever comes out, it can be confirmed that Dre wrote all of it himself, AND it's actually good, I'll start to give him more credit

Depends what kind of rap. If you're talking about raw rap, then probably Tech N9ne. Wayne has his own genre of rap. It's hard to compare him to anyone else because he's been so successful with what he's been doing, and he does it differently than most rappers. But when you talk about the roots of rap, I'd have to say 2Pac, NWA, and Biggie.
