If he released Carter II as III and III as II then I think he would have had a better chance at saving hip hop.

I agree. Carter III should of have not been apart of the carter series. Carter 1 and 2 murders that bitch. Only a real handful of real wayne fans i see. No ceieling was raw but not great but not excellent like drought 3.

It was a step up from Dedication 3 though. He needs to find that hunger like he did during Dedication 2.

All the new underground rappers are coming up and it's going back to that real feel. Not only that Kanye west is went back to original style but that's only on the GOOD Music songs. Wayne from like 07 to current has been Mainstream. With that said i think when wayne is going to start hearing these new artist he is probably goin to start changing his style up which he is mostly known for. But my question is to you guys do you think he is going to hang with J.cole, Jay Electronica, Wiz Khalifa, Drake, Curren$y, Stanley, Wale, Big Sean, and consequence lyrically and popularity. It's a new era of rap and the only person who has ever really kept up with new era's of rap is Jay-Z successfully. Wayne has't been good since Drought 3 in a majority of real lil wayne fans not bandwagons.
To the part in bold, wtf are you talking about? after drought 3 came the drought is over leaks, those went hard, then in 08 C3 came out along with Dedication 3, which was actually good all the way through lyrically, then the 6th installment of the drought is over series which had a good 3 classic wayne songs, then 09 rebirth which was great metaphorically and good for an experimental album, then we got No Ceilings which was close to if not tied with Da Drought 3 as far a lyricism, so I think he has been great since Da Drought 3, and with that song that dropped today, Fire Flame (remix) aka Fire Flame Spitters, there is much more powerful lyricism to come...

"You tied to the track on my train of thoughts, and controlling my thoughts is like tamin sharks..."

"I gotta hit 'em, like redbones wit long hair, fuck wit me ya ass is grass, get a lawn chair..."
"Life is a bitch, I'll make her yo ex..."

Listen to his Pre C3 shit, he lost that hunger, flow and style that just made him lethal in the booth. Now listen to him compared to other rappers. The reason he got so big was because of his wordplay, metaphors and non sequiturs.

                  Re: Wayne's New competition

he still has great wordplay and tremendous metaphors...back then he rapped alot about violence and shootin niggas and shit, but now his variety is very large, including his style on Rebirth, he's on a different level as an artist, trust me he hasn't fallen off, he just appeals to a larger audience so he wants to please the majority of that audience because they half of them got him where he is and the other half will continue to fatten his pockets by buying everything he puts out...

Yeah but thats what bad he dumbed down his lyrics so the mass (no offense white people, Im half white but most of them heard wayne after lollipop) so they can easily memorize the lyrics. So why to me does his music not sound as good as when I used to listen to him back in 05-mid 07.

                      Re: Wayne's New competition

I think Wayne is still ill as fuck now, but if you honestly think his most recent stuff has been as good as C2 etc., you're crazy. The closest he's been to that imo was on No Ceilings. I have faith that he'll bring that back with his post-prison material though, his Fire Flame verses had some crazy wordplay

Yeah, he did pretty good on that and I liked his flow and voice on it, it wasnt that ABC rhyming he was doing the last few months before he went in.

Everything you said was totally bull shit. Not only did rebirth got horrible reviews his lyrics were wack and half the songs on the album were not even written by him hella shanell wrote prom queen and runnin. Dedication 3 was not even that good hella auto tune and simplistic metaphors and similes. No ceilings will never be close to drought 3 and IANAHB only had 3 good songs. Not to mention wayne's mention in his current songs he doesn't care about his lyrics as long as it sounds cool. which is correct. I can qoute you like 20 songs in which he says it. Like Igot5onit said he is no longer hungry he doesn't love rap like he used to. Drake will retire him or J.cole. Unless Dedication 4 or Carter 4 is like Carter 2 on crack since he is writing now.
