lol everyone had an issue a few months back when I was saying drugs had a lot to do with his greatness. Wayne is one of my favorite artists of all time but his lack of motivation now is really disappointing from a fan perspective. The dude who not a few years ago said "I Am Music" really doesn't want to do music anymore. He's treating his old passion like a job that he doesn't want to work. And the reason he doesn't have the passion anymore is because two out of the three things that were his old lifestyle (weed, syrup, recording) he can no longer do. When his lifestyle changed, it changed his views on things. He started going out to clubs and shit, and then decided he wanted to take up a hobby (skateboarding). It is a shame, but he gave us enough greatness for an entire musical career, and he really has nothing to prove to anyone. The only sad thing is I know he can never get it back, even if he wanted to. Ask any artist who was heavy into drugs, it is very hard to get back into that creative space sober.

But there is no denying the fact that back when Wayne said "I'm the best rapper alive", he was.

He could be dead, in jail or on drugs but he went business route and found a health hobby. To me, Hip hop is business and entertainment... To me Lil Wayne gave us fans more than enough music : Almost 10 albums, more than 15 solid mixtapes and uncountable unofficial leaks and 100s of features.

He deserves to move whatever direction he chooses as a man and a father. The journey was sweet for me because i was on Weezy when he wasnt famous at all.. i spotted his game early(hot boy Weezy) when it was No Limit vs Cash Money.. i watched Lil Wayne grow Its crazy.. It felt odd and unbelievable to see someone i was a fan of right from underground before the mass payed attentiom transform to a superstar. It feels like predicting the future haah. To to me im cool with him even calling it quit for good. I have enough music and memories unlike most of his newer fans. In my opinion.. He came, saw and conquered. What more is left for him?
I agree a lot, but I also disagree. Like, I know he basically already conquered all of rap, there's like nothing for him to do. But I just can't wrap my head around him calling it quits for good. And I know he feels the same way. Music is/was his passion, and no matter what he changes his direction to I know somewhere deep inside he'd miss and want to come back to rapping. It's just who he is and I don't think he even thinks he could manage to fully leave the game.

Now that I think about it... if he did take this "hiatus" from rap, I could picture him at his family dinner table freestyling out of nowhere...

Point is, Wayne can go in with the right beat and feeling, he knows he can't be as hungry cause now it's other niggas time to shine, he had his shine for years.
Alot of those songs are lost sessions/ No Ceilings Wayne songs. Of course, there's still a couple great verses, but in general, this was the start of the decline. 2008 was the year Wayne became a household name, and that's the year his quality declined. He was becoming too commercial, and the autotune was also used heavily that year. No Ceilings is the only semi revitilization of 07- Wayne thus far in this primarily dissapointing 4 year run.

Jail and Probation changed him a lot imao. And like others said: Rap is not his favorite thing anymore. Now he uses his free time to skate instead of sitting the whole night in the booth and spitting dope lines. Tbh i dont think he will ever really get into drugs again just because he does so much sport and his kids getting older and shit. Sports and Drugs dont work. Family and drugs dont really work.

Right now, Wayne is just not into rapping at all. I totally understand that. Though I'm satisfied with what he's putting out now, I think he can do a whole lot better if he put his mind to it.
He could use a break; at least for now while he's still in probation. Like he has said for numerous times, he's letting his artists shine. For now, just let him enjoy his hobby.

Yeah he did say that in an interview and him still rapping about Weed and Syrup (latest being Yuck with 2 Chainz) shows he will most certainly get back to Weed after probation, syrup will be a different matter though as Weezy quit that a while ago prior to his probation and jail sentence. I guess time will tell. Does this november mark 2 years of probation?

I don't think he'll get back on the syrup tbh. Just the weed.

He should release D4, IANHB2 and quit rapping until this date tbh. Continue skating because that is what he enjoys right now. Once he is able to smoke and drink without probation he can pursue music after that. Very unlikely tho

Probation didn't change shit, the skateboard did. I garantee if you asked Wayne what changed he'd say he his skateboard made him change. He probably still smokes weed

he needed to fill that hole in his life that used to be weed and lean.

just deal with. I've had enough of these types of threads. might as well make it a sticky while you're at it.

1 : He still sips surp, cuz he showed bottles with prescription in tha P.S.A and explained he needed it to sleep (no doctor wld prescribe lean to help you sleep but w/e)
2 : you can find dozen of pics of post jail weezy cleary high as shit...

Therefore he sips surp and smokes weed (just not in public...) and he still don't want to make music
Why can't people accept that every good thing need to end someday ??

I without a doubt think he will try weed again, but not much at all... he seems to have got a bit more sensible, and rapping is sloly taking him away from the drugs, i think after 2011, wayne has changed, In a bad way for rap. But in a good way as a person.
skating is his new hoppy now, but look at all the music he has put out there, no matter what, wayne is a rapping superstar and will be remembered for his hard work.
                          weezy f baby!

"pass that weed around like some fuckin hors d'oeuvres"
