He's more of those "You gotta respect him" type rappers now. Like, I don't think anyone's scared to get on a track with him anymore, I don't think they have been since '08. But as of '09 I think newer niggas see him as more of a "legend", if you will, instead of competition. He hasn't really been competing for the last 3 years, he doesn't have to, he proved his point, he just raps to do it

Competing is for the rookies in the game
"Armed and dangerous, rich and famous, young and restless
        Guns and stretchers
        Cristal and dubs for breakfast
I just got one suggestion - none should test him
'Cause cuz get hectic; send one through your sons intestines
Glocks knock lungs from chests, you get the portrait?
Bodies piled up on porches, it won't be gorgeous"

He hasn't been anything special in a while. But, i'm pretty sure rappers feared him for a while, especially after he performed Gossip live on BET. And i'm almost positive that the first two Dedication mixtapes and Da Drought III made rappers look out for him. Now? Not so much. He's proved himself behind the mic, in the dungeon, and on the radio. He's one of the hottest in the game, but he needs to get back on his grizzy to really be feared again... But then again, why should he?

I'd say hell yeah they do! Just think about how many songs are Wayne is featured in?? A LOT! That's because they want their sales up, and they don't want to be the ones up against him. He is defiantly still competition weather he is on his game or not!

As far as popularity. He's not a weak rapper now, but he's not the rapper eater right now either.

Lil Wayne, Drake, Chance the Rapper, Skooly, Rich Homie Quan, 2 Chainz.
