I think everybody on this forum should post on here. It's awesome to read others reason why. It's really refreshing from the constant hate on Wayne that you see on other websites.
Wayne was just it for me.
He is just such a unique artist that put so much emotion and work ethic into his craft. I first heard of him around the Carter 3 with Lolipop and actually originally hated him for about a year because of the Tim Westwood freestyle, but then I started looking into him more and after about a week of listening to him I knew that he was going to be my favourite rapper.
His attitude that he presents himself with, the changes in his flow, how he is so misunderstood by people that hate him and even by his fans that aren't as big. The history that the guy has, the story behind his self-inflicted gun wounds, the way that he carried the city of New Orleans after Katrina, producing some of the most socially progressive hip-hop during that time. His prison time, how hip-hop constantly waited for the day that the guy came out. The game really did shit without him.
He has undeniably changed hip-hop. He has helped create the biggest label in the game, he came up through the ranks as the underdog, he rejected Jay's offer and did it without the help of the Roc. He is the only rapper that has crossed my mind that has crossed over genres and actually produce a half decent crossover record. He made drinking syrup cool. He made wearing skinny jeans cool. He made dreads look sick. His reign over hip-hop is classic.
For me, his work ethic is definately inspiring and the emotion that he inflicts into his music really helped me with writing slam poetry. I've even used some lines of Weezy's in some of my poems. And it's really cool that Wayne skates, but I liked him before he skated so it didn't really change my liking, even though I would prefer he would spend more time in the booth. It's all good. Sometimes I will listen to other artists like Kendrick, ASAP, the Game, 2Pac, etc. and get an album or two, but I will always eventually will go back to listening to Wayne.
Wayne is definately a polarizing figure for most people and I love talking to people that hate him. It's amusing to see how uneducated people are.
I don't expect everyone to read that, I might have went off topic.
I have ADHD I think.
