He paved the way for a certain sound that like half of hip hop currently uses. But as for Southern hip hop, naw, they were always here. C2 just got Wayne more noticed. It was pre-C3 & C3 that seriously affected hip hop.

I personally think he pushed the mainstream envelope for southern artists.. becoz once people started calling him the Best Rapper Alive next to Jay Z... thats when a flood of artist like Jeezy T.I Rick Ross Dj Khaled took over the mainstream. The real pioneers are Outkast, UGK, Scarface and Three 6 Mafia IMO ... but Weezy was the one who took tha South to another level. Just my opinion!
