im good is straight.. goes a lot harder cos its wayne on it.
poker face is cool enough.
you know what, listing it like this, i dont even think the beats were that bad for the time. but music production in general, is just in a better place right now.
Why are you hating on somebody who's given such great contributions to the website? I mean, I don't really know the dude or anything but he seems alright.

youve been saying nc is overrated longbefore i was,
where do you see no ceilings holding weight w dedication 5?
That's true. See I had really high hopes for NC, following DD3, my favorite project of all time. I had already given D3 a pass as I viewed it more as a YM mixtape thrown under the Dedication series name. Also it was easy to let slide due to him just releasing C3 and the daily slew of leaks and features, all of which were bodied. He still did his thing on his verses so I wasn't mad at his quality on that tape, either.
But with NC, I was left really fuckin disappointed. It was still a great tape, I guess. There were some songs I loved. Ice Cream, Watch My Shoes, Run This Town, Oh Let's Do It... And some I hated. DOA, Wetter, Wasted, Poke Her Face, etc. I just felt like, at the time... "Wtf is this shit!?" Now looking back at it, I see it isn't as bad as I had pegged it.
But in 2013, after getting D4 not even a year before, I honestly expected D4.5. Especially after hearing Bugatti. I was prepared for the worst. I liked D4 and all, but not more than NC and S4TW. But we got D5 which totally fucked my shit up. Just about every track on it I can dig, and I could never understand how one can say NC is the holy grail and D5 can't compete. It's silly. He had some crazy word play on this tape. Word play that either matches or surpasses that found on NC.
You want to know what I think it is? The preconceived thought that because NC was released prior to Wayne getting locked up, it's automatically better, no matter what. Because Wayne was heavily favored then. D5, on the other hand, is a release in the era of "Wayne is trash after prison." I mean it really should say something when people were saying that some of the verses were old.
I'm still a HUGE Wayne fan. I don't understand everyone saying he's wack. Maybe in comparison to himself, but not these rappers today. His subject matter leaves shit to be desired, but I don't doubt his ability at all. And neither should anyone else. Give Wayne a subject and he shines. Without any direction he kinda just throws shit up. Even in his old shit he had hints of direction.
Anyway, with that said, yeah. I think the two tapes hover on the same plane. But one is a decline from his prime, hence being overrated, while another is a rise from mediocrity, hence being overlooked.
Lil Wayne, Drake, Chance the Rapper, Skooly, Rich Homie Quan, 2 Chainz.
