for the most part, i loved no ceilings. i was never big on the super poppy southern beats like watch my shoes and ice cream job, but theres no denying he wrecked those beats. i thought doa was cool, but for me, it was a lot flatter than people care to admit.
i thought he'd come a lot harder on doa. swag surfing was undeniably nuts, same w banned from tv, run this town.
even oh lets do it, which i enjoyed a lot at the time, i went back and listend to it the other day, and its like fuck, wayne is rapping so much better on d5 than he is here. its nuts.
but still.. NC had this lifespan.. people were still bumping that tape 2 years after released, and i think its classic in that right.
but as for the music.. being infallible. is kinda absurd to me.
im pretty hard myself, on wayne. i didnt fuck w d4, but maybe 3 or 4 times. i heard somethings, like he was revving up, but nothing immediately compelling the way he usually is when hes on.
i dont think ive made it thru to the end of ianhb2.. but there were some moments of creativity on that tape.. that was like hmm. whats this guy up to..
i actuallly liked bugatti when iheard it.. cos it sounded musical.. it sounded like a wayne invention instead of a wayne rehash.
its just strange to me.. that people prefer nc.. when dedication 5.. is about as vintage wayne we're gonna get in 2013.
levels sounds like a direct descendent of the old wayne juelz chemistry from dedication 2, combined w throw some keys from drought 3.
they style and pace of his writing is as nimble as anything hes made in awhile.
and overall.. the sharpness.. the wit of the writing. on no ceilings.. it was fun... but he was still making it easy.
on dedication 5.. he was rapping, and u either got it, or you didnt. he wasnt afraid to leave people behind in his raps.
its a shame tho, cos it hink he gave a lot to this tape, and none of the reviews picked up on it.
for me tho, its probably been my favorite project since.. carter 3?
and.. i might like it more than that.. just cos.. lool the lack of crossover appeal of the tape. dedication 5 is honest as fuck.
edit:: lol all over the place as fuck, but im w you.
