Who hear actually listened to Wayne in his prime in 07
Yeah i remebmber when that You song by Lloyd came out in 06, and back then i didnt really knew who Wayne was. I guess i started listening to him after that. Da drought 3 was the first project of him i really discovered
I was onboard! long-term fan here. I was obsessed with "Back That Azz Up" and "Bling Bling" in 4-5th grade. about five years later "Tha Carter" came out. I had "Go DJ" and "Bring It Back" on repeat. I've been a mongo fan ever since. the anticipation and hype for "Tha Carter III" was insane. selling over a million in the first week was a win for myself too.
Legend has it, the Global Financial Crisis started once Lil Wayne started declining from his prime in 08.
It resulted in the threat of total collapse of large financial institutions, the bailout of banks by national governments, and downturns in stock markets around the world. In many areas, the housing market also suffered, resulting in evictions, foreclosures and prolonged unemployment. The crisis played a significant role in the failure of key businesses, declines in consumer wealth estimated in trillions of U.S. dollars, and a downturn in economic activity leading to the 2008–2012 global recession.

I heard a couple of Lil Wayne songs like Pop Bottles, Stuntin Like My Daddy, Like Father Like Son, Duffle Bag Boy, Pussy Money Weed, I'm Me, I Feel Like Dying, and that was about it.
Pimp'n Says: Dawg I've been listen'n 2 Wayne so long I had 'Get It How U Live' on cassette tape... I'm proud of his success but damn it fuq'd up his passion of be'n da best.
I knew Fireman, A Milli, and Lollipop probably a few other radio songs, but I got caught up in the C4 hype. I played 6'7'' to death blew out so many speakers lol then i started to go listen to the old mixtapes i guess after Sorry for the Wait had came out. I think i found this website about a year before IANAHB2 or so i was looking for info on the album after hearing the swisher rolled tight snippet on youtube.
I guess i was rocking Nelly and Eminem before Wayne mostly but i didn't listen to music as much as i do now.
Started paying attention after probably Go DJ? Then C2 singles, features, and the mixtape era made him king. Carter 3 came out the summer before my senior year of High School and that was it, Wayne was the GOAT and everybody took pride in knowing every line of his.
'I don't foresee shit.'
"You old ass rappers better stay on tour
You're like 44, I got a 44, I'm 24
I could murk you and come home when I'm 44"
bro that's exactly how it was, especially from like January to all through summer, I woke up everyday, would always find some new shit on limewire, and think about it... there wasn't any Kendrick Lamars, Drakes, or anybody else... it was just Wayne, fuckin crazy
