It's better lyrically than C2; it's subject to countless academic insights ("His lyrics contain layered rhythms, multi-syllabic compounded rhymes, internal half rhymes, assonance, and ear-bending enjambment."); better production-wise, and overall it's just a much more important album.

Illmatic, Tha Carter II, The College Dropout, All Eyez On Me, MMLP, Reasonable Doubt, Ready To Die, It's Dark and Hell is Hot (etc.) are all legendary Hip-Hop albums that SHOULDN'T be compared tbh, all legendary because they are unique and very good albums in similar and different ways.
