And as far as ability Wayne could definitely go with Big. Wayne had a million flows, he was witty and creative with his words and getting what he wanted out of a song, like... That nigga ushered in a whole new era of hip hop and inspired a whole generation we're seeing and hearing today.

Why not put him up there? Because he eventually became too popular and too radio? Because he did a "rock" album? Because of Lollipop and How to Love? Because in recent years he hasn't really been trying as hard? That doesn't take away from what he did and the talent he had put on display. If he died in 08 or never blew up he'd undoubtedly be in top lists consistently with much stronger conviction than now.
Man you make some really good points. I guess we all romanticise the rappers who have passed. Look at Big L. Undisputed, he was a genius, but imagine trying to keep that up for the rest of his career?

I think the best way to look at it, is to look at the GOATS of the 90s and see where they are now, that's "probably" the route Biggie and Pac would've taken. Raekwon, Nas, LL Cool J, Jay-Z. I mean LL is a throwaway now, but Jay, Nas, Raekwon are all going to be remembered in the top 10.

If Wayne had died right after C3? I dunno.. It's so tough to say, cause hip hop heads seem to loathe when an artist crosses over and hits the mainstream. Just look at Jay's 2nd album. It's basically a classic, except for like 2 songs, but it's never mentioned anymore cause everyone thought he was trying to sell out.

Wayne DID change the game. He created this culture of mixtape overload, and yet his quality was insane. No-one has matched him since then.

I would class him as one of the greats, personally, but I don't think the hip hop world will, and even if he had passed during his imperious run, I think the hip hop world may still have looked upon him as a crossover success rather than GOAT..

Mainstream rappers? No-one.. CamRon has put out some really good stuff, and Logic's album was awesome. Jay-Z, whenever he has dropped a guest verse since MCHG has been absolutely insane (Seen It All, Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe, Drunk In Love, Pound Cake, Devil Is A Lie, We Made It). That's probably it. Although when Em drops, I think Busta has something dropping soon, Royce Da 5'9".. It's looking like a decent summer tbh

          Guns and stretchers
          Cristal and dubs for breakfast
I just got one suggestion - none should test him
'Cause cuz get hectic; send one through your sons intestines
Glocks knock lungs from chests, you get the portrait?

I still think moment and krazy are too ianahb2 for me, but better... And other than those two, I can safely say this is what I've been waiting for (for years). The new features especially, plus grindin, believe me, dusse are all passionate and wayne is rapping so hard and so good again. Makes me smile a big dumb grin.

Gotti is only further proof that wayne has taken the annoying flow and finally made it work. His lyrics are brilliant again, they just move faster than before. On ianahb2 he was using the same kind of flow but the lyrics were generally garbage (except gunwalk and latter part of the intro) and d5 was closer to the right direction. His lyrics are finally back on point and now I feel like he has evolved to the artist he SHOULD HAVE BEEN since D4. Now he's there and I am officially PSYCHED for carter 5.

              Just wanted to share.
how do you feel about his features lately?
