Random track like selsun blue shits on D.O.A, and I got a feeling.

and selsun blue aint even the best track on there

^^truths. selsum blue is becoming a favorite, just cos it seems so filler, but he kills it so hard, and it leads to used to so well.

deffinitely get the feeling s4tw2 was shaped not thrown together like NC

wayne's style has changed a lot, so it's hard to compare sometimes... i kind of go back and forth between these two tapes. they're so close quality wise though.

the thing is, wayne's style is determined by the beat he's going over. songs like try me, preach, no haters, cream, fuckin problems, you song prove the point that i've been trying to prove since 2011: wayne can still rap just like he used to, but he is forced to rearrange his flow over trap beats and a lot of the more modern stuff. these new beats go mad slow, so he has to go double time. and now with these migos flows being the latest fad he has to adjust yet again. his style doesn't translate perfectly to all beats, but he's finally making his peace with most beats. throw those NC style mid-tempo old school beats at him right now and he'd still kill 'em... i think it's just second nature for him.

take the 2012 D4 style (meek mill, big sean, etc.) which wayne actually reprises here on trap house, dreams and nightmares and a few others.... he is still flowing the same way, but what he's SAYING now is just better. less cheap pussy jokes, which makes them hit way harder when the pussy jokes DO show up... wider range of subject matter... funnier punchlines... and so on.

one of the coolest things about s4tw2 (and i mentioned this as another thread subject) is that he finally seems to have found a good balance and skill level for all his recent styles: 2007-09, D4/D5, IANAHB2 and the new school versace style flow. he isn't shortchanging any one of these styles now, whereas before he would sometimes turn in serious struggle bars (most of IANAHB2, some of D4/D5, most of C4). HE HAS A MUCH MORE REFINED BAD LYRIC DETECTOR ON THIS NEW TAPE! Even recent singles like krazy, moment (i know yall hate me when i say that about moment) and start a fire had that embarrassing quality to them, where some lines were good, but a lot of it was shit.

I feel people prefer NC because of nostalgia. Most of Wayne's fans became Wayne fans after 08, so NC was their first taste of Mixtape Weezy. Like...release that they actually witnessed. Me, as a fan since forever, I didn't think it was the best thing ever like most do. I liked it tho.

But if we compare the tapes bar for bar? S4TW2 outdoes it. The only ugh moment for me is DiL. I can go without No Type and Alphabet, but they kool for what they are. But I absolutely HATE DOA and I Got No Ceilings. Don't Care for Poke Her Face, Single, Sweet Dreams, Wetter, or Throw it in the Bag.

            And so many lame lines...

I'd love to be proven wrong, though.

one of my fav posters on the site

I love No Ceilings and S4TW2 its hard for me to choose. I think No Ceilings may seem better to most mainly due to that being in Wayne's prime, nostalgia, and beats... Beats from 09 and beats from 2014-2015 are much different. Let Wayne hop on a mixtape full of 09 beats I'm sure it'd come out insane. Unfortunately producers have been stale as of late with what trends charts.

I'd go with S4TW2, it feels like he found a comfortable zone for himself and is mastering it. Like he said himself..

"Too many issues, too many mistakes
Too many miscues, only made me better, it turned me into
The man I am today, I'm new and I'm improved"

                    Let's see, I don't like Wetter.
Fuckin' can't stand Poke Her Face.
I'm Good is Straight, but too fuckin' short. Not really all that good.
Break Up is honestly ass. And it used to be a guilty pleasure.
                    That's four shitty songs already.
I like DOA actually. He killed Run This Town, with the exception of the second verse.
Used to fuckin' hate Think I Love Her Freestyle/That's All I Have. Not bad now. But I really didn't expect Wayne to be half as good on S4TW2 as he even was on that track.
Murked Banned from T.V. Yes. But there are "STILL" corny lines on there, even. One of the best songs from that tape.
Watch My Shoes is one of his best mixtape tracks of all time, surprisingly enough. Nothing bad to say about that.
When he hopped on Swag Surfin', nobody even remembered who originally did after that. So there's that.
Throw It In The Bag is a highlight for me personally. Sad he didn't deliver with that type of track on S4TW2.
I Got a Feeling is fun. But it "IS" super-corny. If we wanna talk about rappers "SUCCESSFULLY" hopping on poppy or Electronica/Techno beats like that, Wiz going over "Our Time Is Here" with "We're Done" is pretty damn impressive.
I mean, bruh, come on. There's great material on NC. And then there's some filler. But people won't acknowledge that because Dedication 3 was the previous project he worked on (And what a low point, honestly.)
So yeah. After Dedication 5, when he pulled off tracks like "Started" that shit on a good amount of NC, of course it would seem a little underwhelming. I feel like NC and S4TW2 are pretty much neck and neck though. People jizzing way too hard over that project, bruh. I don't understand. I was there when it came out, too. And at first, it was honestly still not as impressive as it grew to be to me. While Da Drought 3 was always respected. Even if I favored Dedication 2 over it.
