    Drake bigger than Weezy ever was? (MAINSTREAM success)

    Hey fam , been a while since i shared my thoughts with ya , i've been kinda busy , but I still try to pay a visit in lwhq , looking alive as ever.
    So , I was watching Drake's Energy video and I was thinking , is Drake now bigger than Weezy ever was? I know we're a Lil Wayne forum , so most of us will deffinetely say that Wayne's run through 05-09 can't be repeated and that Drake hasn't had that success yet. Maybe that's true , Drake may dominate the industry for many years or may fell off suddenly. But as I see it , he is right now too big (and my name too big and my gang too big! ) and his mainstream success plus his impact on pop culture plus social media is huuuge.
    What are your thoughts on this? Hope i made the question clear
    We gotta have in mind though , that today's era is a lil bit different from 10 to 6 years ago...

    Hey may be.... but if he was that big he could do 1,000,000 first week easily and he never has. NWTS took 5 weeks. Its easy to say Drake is bigger than Wayne ever was, I say prove it.

    Wayne used to be everybody's favorite rapper, hardly anyone disliked Wayne before Lollipop and while Drake has millions of fans many people think hes corny or soft....

      that's some true shit. But Wayne took crazy amounts of hatred from one point...they both shaped their respective eras tho , no denial.
      Btw , regarding the 1m sales/first week...2008 was easier to make sales...and maybe drake will break the milestone with the '6'

        And that when wayne did his 1 million first week more people bought albums

          people use that defense for every album since the carter 3. I just think Wayne had that extremely rare super buzz that even Drake has yet to match. People said no one bought albums in 2011, yet look at what Carter 4 did. People still buy albums there's no doubt in my mind, especially their favorite artist.

                Basically social media hype. And obnoxious fans that make drake look like a God on YouTube. You can't compare Drake to Wayne. Wayne was popular for genuine reasons. He worked hard to be as successful as he is. Meanwhile the internet chose drake IMO.
                The more time you spend contemplating what you should have done... you lose valuable time planning what you can and will do.

                    social media has definitely helped him alot

                    hes the first big rap artist in the technological era/social media era....if wayne had the exposure drake has now with facebook twitter and instagram and whatever else there is now back in 08, who knows how much more carter 3 would have sold

                      Drake ain't never gonna match weezy's buzz and the hustle progress how weezy did it

                      when wayne got on top people didn't even know he has all these albums before

                      they were looking at him like a new guy

                      but drizzy is already the old guy and with singles like hotline bling
                      n those videos
                      u can't really fuck with drake anymore after that hotline bling video it's gay to me to even talk abt it

                      I don't wanna look like drake or wear what he wears so he ain't getting on that level

                      drizzy got it but he is not a complete package
                      of Swag Persona and no body diggin his personal life (contradicting to weezy)
