SuWu and Young are truly trash. He should have done those beats ("SuWu" = "PRBLMS" by 6lack and "Young" = "No Limit" by G-Eazy wayyyyy better.). "PRBLMS" deserved so much more. God, he didn't even try. Terrible. And to those saying this is better than "No Ceilings", fuck nah. And I don't even like that mixtape like that. I truly think y'all overrate that shit to death. And for the hundredth time, the leaked Summer 2007-Issue Version of Tha Carter III is still the greatest album of all time.

Lemme know. How was NC1 better aside from how you viewed Wayne at the time.
Throw me some bars bruh. What was trash on here? What bars on NC can't be touched by D6?
How am I a stan if I literally shit on NC and C4 every chance I get? Kuz C4 sucks ass btw.

I think there are a few reasons this seems better than most post prison Wayne:
1- he is rapping with more confidence, even if it’s not my favorite style... I can’t deny he sounds on point
2- he didn’t bombard us with some epic length mixtape. As generous as he is, that shit can be hard to take when the quality is so scattered (NC2, D5). If he had dropped both halves at one time this might have just been overwhelming again. He seems to realize focus is key — kind of like he did on FWA.
3- he didn’t include any old school Wayne flows. Even NC2 had a few verses of the classic Wayne style most of us love. This time he just starved us out, which sucks on one hand, but I almost respect him more for it. He’s saying “no chance that Wayne is showing up here, so deal with this”. It has resulted in a more consistent, focused tape - love the style or hate the style.
4- this tape is still loaded with random cheesy cringe bars, but the dope bar ratio is a little more even this time. In a weird way this project reminds me most of D4, but with vastly superior lyrics. Anyone else get that vibe?
5- Wayne is - and has been - light years ahead of these mumble rappers whose whole style he birthed, but somehow his fast paced lyrical acrobatics failed to resonate with all his audiences: (1) the old heads can’t get into the new flow and forced delivery where the lyrics don’t have a chance to breathe and Wayne sounds like a jumpy crackhead. (2) the young heads can’t get into it because they’re not into the new rap styles for lyricism - clearly! So while Wayne might be something of a curiosity to them - an impressive feat of stream of consciousness virtuosity from someone they’re told is a legend - he is not in their wheelhouse. Maybe these types are appreciating this style now because the genre Wayne birthed has moved far enough that now Wayne’s talent can be appreciated as a vital part of it all, not just a footnote; an old jazz drummer who comes out holding his sticks weird and plays fast and great, but doesn’t really connect with the funk audience of like 1975 or whatever.
D6 for me definitely jumps out as better than NC2 and most of what I’ve heard from Wayne in the last year or two. But it is most DEFINITELY new Wayne and there’s zero old Wayne. But this is new Wayne kind of making a case that he’s relevant ... and actually truly taking over people’s beats: XO tour life for example.
Anyway, the verdict is still out for me, as I am one of th aforementioned old heads whose go-to Wayne shit is still DD3, D2 and the leaked C3 sessions. Lol
