There was so much pressure for it to be the greatest album he'd ever created. Coupled with the fact that everyone on here thought that he must have been writing down some deeply lyrical and deep "meaningful" deep lyrics in prison.

too many features and too many singles dropped before the album, along with what you said and yeah = people were dissapointed

Probably the worst Carter album but still better than most rapper's best releases. Idk. I have a love/hate relationship with this album because I have so much nostalgia around it but at the same time it pretty much feels like an album of lackluster singles and not a cohesive project, not to mention some mediocre lyricism. It's high points are really high (the lyricism on 6F7F is still unreal to this day) but it's low points are really low.
