  • Frustrations with being a Wayne Fan?

So to begin with, I think most of us on here don't give a damn of what anyone else thinks of Wayne, cause we all know he's one of the best rappers out there.

Still, I've been listening to Wayne for a while now but recently, I've started telling people that he is my favourite rapper, and the reactions I get are (and these are from people who listen to hip-hop):

    - "I don't/haven't listened to Lil Wayne"
    - "Oh... I like his song lollipop"
    - "How to Love is pretty nice"
    - shows a bad song he made "can't respect him after this"
    - "isn't he retired??"

Do any of ya'll have friends IRL who are Wayne fans?? Cause I find em so hard to find xD And if not, who do most of your IRL friends put as their favourite rapper? For me it seems to be Kanye, Travis, Kendrick, Juicwrld, J-cole etc.

(but maybe I just need more friends LOL)

At least for people my age, most kids just accept Wayne is there. His image doesn't really help him. Adults 25-32 probably have a much closer connection with him becasue that he was most popular when they were highschool/college. Big Wayne fans are hard to find but I've put some of my self-respecting rap fans on D2, DD3, Drought Is Over series, early Carters, etc....

Ay most guys my age don't even know bout his mixtapes I think, so I should do that too xD

But definitely agree that the 25-30s guys seem to respect him... would have loved to been just a liittle older during prime Weezy.

            Lmao this.

but yeah I’m pretty sure most Wayne fans like said are in their upper 20s lower 30s. He also has a good amount of people in their mid 30s lower 40s. More so than the younger generation actually

IDK where you from but I live in Louisiana and people fuck with him here. Most of my friends are at least casual fans. I live in a college town and around campus you would hear people bumping D6 and CV all day. My neighbors are college kids and they actually started to get on my nerves blasting CV when it came out.

Most hip hop fans that don't fuck with Wayne just think they're smarter than they actually are and don't recognize the greatness. Don't worry about them. Wayne changed music as we know it and is one of the greatest lyricists of all time and history has and will prove it.

This here. It drives me crazy that people who consider themselves “real hip hop fans” and appreciate “lyricism” don’t fw with Wayne. Like he would body anybody. I’m gettin heated just thinkin bout it. I hate the hip hop elitsists. It’s why he’ll never be considered the goat to the whole hip hop community cuz the ones posting their opinion never mention him. Wayne is so far the best and I just don’t get what they’re not hearing. If it ain’t em, Andre, or jay, they should not even be mentioned in the same sentence as Wayne. And maybe Kendrick/Kanye.

Most of these hip hop "elitists" haven't even heard Wayne's best lyrics, especially this newer generation smh. When people put artists like the ones you mentioned as the best/their favourite i can understand, but those stanning these hype new rappers without giving prime Weezy a chance gets on my nerves.

And fr in general hip hop forums Wayne seems to be lowkey underrated which gets me like ?? Dude has such a variety of music how can you not even give him an honourable mention tf
