Lil Wayne produced a lot of bad music from 2010 to 2014. Some good, but a lot of bad. He was far from peak. In large part because he was dumping all the overwrought puns he wrote down in prison into songs. Once he emptied his notebook and got back to laying it down straight off the dome, he was back. D'usse was the loudest, clearest sign of this.
Not to say there weren't some amazing tracks 2010-14 but they were among a whole lot of really disappointing junk. Wayne was stale.
D'usse was a definitive statement that he was back. Then we got Sorry 4 the Wait 2 and there was no question. He was back to peak form and on to new peaks. Followed by No Ceilings 2, FWA, Carter V, Dedication 6, Funeral, all of which match or surpass his prior peak of Drought 3, Carter III, No Ceilings and all that came out in those years 2006-2009.
