  • The day D'usse was posted officially ended Wayne's worst years.

Lil Wayne produced a lot of bad music from 2010 to 2014. Some good, but a lot of bad. He was far from peak. In large part because he was dumping all the overwrought puns he wrote down in prison into songs. Once he emptied his notebook and got back to laying it down straight off the dome, he was back. D'usse was the loudest, clearest sign of this.

Not to say there weren't some amazing tracks 2010-14 but they were among a whole lot of really disappointing junk. Wayne was stale.

D'usse was a definitive statement that he was back. Then we got Sorry 4 the Wait 2 and there was no question. He was back to peak form and on to new peaks. Followed by No Ceilings 2, FWA, Carter V, Dedication 6, Funeral, all of which match or surpass his prior peak of Drought 3, Carter III, No Ceilings and all that came out in those years 2006-2009.

Agreed with OP feel D5 was the true return form however with a couple blemishes

Dusse made me excited for Wayne music again. Wayne on that style of beat is always special.

we forget it takes months before we hear a lot of this...i reckon early 2014 maybe late 13 wayne was like what the bruck have i been doing time to rap again. all that particularly shitty wayne is from like 2012 onwards maybe even late 11...who knows. You can hear it in his tone the different phases eras and times he released shit or at least guess. There were like 15 songs we all got hyped about throughout 2014 where he sounded the same and his flow was almost the same.
