  • Can we talk about 'Dreams' for a second?

It's been a whiiiiiiiile since I've made a thread on here. Everyone probably knows me as the kid that just bitches about Wayne's over-use of autotune for the past 5 years.. but I have to say, Dreams is probably the best *song* (key-word) he has released since 2015. Now, everyone's gonna be like WHAT ABOUT THE SONGS ON D6 / D6R / C5 / FWA?!?!? Those albums don't have songs like this. Dreams is on a whole another level. That shit reminds me of something he would have released during the Rebirth era. It's an actual SONG. There are cohesive verses, he stays ON TOPIC, the chorus's are actual choruses with background vocals, harmonies, etc. There is massive effort behind this song and the fact he chose to perform it on Jimmy Fallon shows exactly that. Out of the 25 songs on Funeral, that one made the live performance cut. What does that tell you. Let me just say, if he made an album full of songs like that, or an actual Rebirth 2 that followed that type of style, he would BLOW up. People are sleeping on this song (no pun intended ).

I agree. It feels most like a Rebirth "rock Wayne" type of song but a more developed version of that style. Like the most complete piece of music with different levels to it. Definitely feels like he put more time and effort into it. Also the longest on the album. A lot of the other songs feel almost... not half-done but like there could have been more to them.

It's my favorite too dude, I have not taken it off repeat since I heard it. His energy alone is absolutely incredible, that's the energy I truly missed from him. I can feel that he's actually into it, where as a lot of songs he does now it just sounds like "alright lemme record this real quick and get it over with". Even his voice, if he could just keep the pitch at that level all the time I wouldn't even complain anymore. I just wanna sit down & tell him all this lmao.

A more developed version. Yes. That is the PERFECT way to word that. It's like an actual evolution for once on his older style of music. A lot of people complain that he's not maturing but for me if you told me that song was going to be on Rebirth 2 I wouldn't even question it. & I literally could not agree more that a lot of songs sound incomplete & rushed. Like I said, this is the most cohesive song on the album & it really shows because it stands out like a sore thumb, but in the best way possible.

this is what i was tryna say in my "streets" on funeral post. his music should be focused on the evolution of himself like u sed. im not tht big of a fan of the rebirth era so dreams wasnt my favorite but songs like stop playin wit me, mahogany, harden, cap & gown, etc. are evolutions of different versions of himself which is light years ahead of any artists in music tbh

I always said Dreams reminded me of a Rebirth Wayne type of ssong. Its 1 of my favorites from Funeral. I would have loved and still would love a Rebirth 2. This song just is really really good to me and to hear more of that on a Rebirth type album like a Rebirth 2 would be dope.

                      THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He has been trying SO hard to seem 'younger' & more 'with the times' but for someone that "only listens to himself" it sure doesn't sound like it anymore. A LOT of his new music sounds like eeeeeeeeeeeeeeevverything else we hear on the radio now & it's very upsetting because I KNOW he is better than that. Like, where is punchline Wayne. Where is ad-lib Wayne. Where is make some crazy ass comparison that you have to listen to 67 times to finally catch it Wayne. I miss when he just used to be himself. I finally saw Wayne being Wayne on this song & that's why I love it so much.
