  • as someone said before me, i wonder if Rich The Kid payed Wayne for an Album ahahahah
I wasn't sure I know the guy, then i remembered he had that New Freezer song that I enjoyed, but mostly due to Kendrick lol.
Then this album comes in, and even though Wayne is in another league than these new gen traphouse guys and can rap in a shittone of beats with ease and finesse, I can enjoy him in almost everything. It's a fact but he's my (and our) favourite artist, so I'm biased af and I don't care, i Find him brilliant even in the darkest times, but to be fair, his skill difference with...Rich The Man is so obvious that he steals the show in every song.
Trust Fund Babies as a whole was entertaining, it was pointless to some degree, but it is what it is and it's a Weezy project that I had some expectations. Nothing special to be expected of course, i just focus on the positive side of things: some little trap vibes here and there and some nice Wayne moments, with a potential moment of clarity from Richie. And it delivered that.
I don't think they really care about the sales man, they just drop shit. And they dropped that, it's out there....now let's go to the next project.

He is not unique anymore, 90% of rappers try to look and sound like him. His team is trash, they don't know how to promote him even if their life depends on it + his image and some of the music he's releasing hurts him aswell
every wayne album atleast gold/gold eligible, and all except i think 2 his first 3 and funeral are platinum (omitting FWA for obvious reasons) hes one of the best selling rappers oat i believe.

and the 217K IANAHB2 was a top 10 hiphop first week in 2013. So was carter 2 first week and rebirth (leaked 2 months early) and ianahb1 (digital only release first week, unheard of then) the year they were released. Until funeral that was the case.

even if the first was "weaker" hed have a hit(s) to help the album sales. But they were never this abysmal

Wayne has never been a consistently good seller? Aside from the majority of his albums being platinum or multi platinum for more than two decades, literally being one of the biggest selling artists of all time with at least 160 million records sold (probably way more), Wayne has never been a consistently good seller. Wayne is not unique? Just ignore everything else that has dropped this year, focus on the style of this "light work" project with a young 'trap' style 'mumble rapper'.

Stop overreacting to the low sales of a 20 minute album full of two minute songs that practically zero money or effort has been put into the marketing of. The only reason that I, a big Lil Wayne fan, even know this exists is because I check LWHQ, granted I don't use social media. Stop acting like marketing, building interest and awareness don't matter. They obviously know this but didn't spend a whole load of money trying to push this side project that they didn't expect to sell that much anyway.
12-15K is abysmal theres no defending this. No matter how "short" it is, its a collab album between the two artists. And we aint talking selling 100K first week, but 12-15K is unacceptable for the commercial giant Wayne is/was, promo or not lol. Also Wayne did a interview on Apple for the album, and wayne and rtk did a Q&A on YouTube.

fucking GEazy sold 19K last week lmao, this Wayne&RTK album doing those type of numbers.

Nobody is "defending" these sales. People just get too emotional about it and start chatting pure shite. It's just like why were people expecting it to do anything? Barely anyone outside of LWHQ, Wayne's youtube subscribers, and RTK instagram followers know this exists, most people even on this site don't give af about this 'album', most people in this thread probably didn't even buy it. I'm sure the fact that it's a collab with RTK meant a lot of Wayne fans didn't bother checking it out. Don't act like marketing, promo, getting djs to play songs and stuff like that doesn't matter. Q&A on youtube watched only by the most avid fans and an interview on apple (when was that?) is jack shit in terms of promo. Just seems pretty obvious that they weren't expecting much or else they would have invested in trying to make it successful.

apple interview was like 2 days ago, with Zane Lowe. and wayne also made tiktok and posted a promo for feelin like tunechi before the album. Im not sure what other promo you want, maybe a pre-release single Seemed like feelin like tunechi was supposed to be that (they did the presave) but they ended up dropping the video with the album.

But anyways, sure, promo wasn't A1, but 12-15K cmon LOL you can expect "not much" but you can't expect Wayne (collab album or not) to flop like a fish outta water lol. Its horrible numbers.

Wayne looking less like Kanye/Em and more like TI/Jeezy with these post C5 releases.

Fingers crossed for IANAHB3 and whatever Ya Dig is supposed to be apart of. Hopefully they dont get their budgets cut/pulled.

but whatever, let's see what they do with the next actual Wayne album

                • Numbers are bad but don’t really mean much lol. Especially considering the context. I think Wayne next solo will still crack 100k with a full rollout

Either one is possible depending on the rollout. Funeral didn’t have any big features (aside Lil Baby) or promotions beforehand & sold 130k.

Wayne still has 30M monthly listeners on Spotify so he’s not irrelevant. He’ll probably need good poppin features to help him though

i was talking about the first week sales, outside of C3, C4 and C5 Wayne never did 250k+ first week. While someone like Kanye, Jay Z, Eminem, Drake always have 300k+
