  • Honestly, I can't ride the hate train. Most is coming from fuckers that can't stand to hear any non-rap influence. Check your limitations.
The project is getting better with time so far, and that hasn't been the case for me since the last Carter.

The Himalayan line one of the hardest oat btw

      • So much cope in this thread, lol.

If you have to run a album back 5 times before you start finding songs that you like its a mediocre album.

Did you have to replay C2 and C3 8 times before you realized they were classics???

In the past when he dropped heat everyone immediately knew it was fire on the first or second listen. In current day instead of admitting he's washed up, stans will tell you to rewind the album 15 times before you "get it".
Whole time his lyricism and subject matter ain't even that deep to justify running it back that many times.

lol this aint true bro - also you're speaking for yourself from your own experience, ain't cool to project this and assume that the other fans who genuinely enjoy the album after a few listens opinion's aren't valid in their own experience

sometimes what happens is when we're comparing things to other things we don't see things in its purity: it creates preconceived notions and expectations.. & when these aren't met we're disappointed and automatically label things as bad

if we're comparing c6 to wayne's old bangers on our first listen then it clouds our judgement, we aren't listening to it purely or presently, there's subconscious comparisons that affect how we're digesting things. so yes it can take a few listens to remove ourselves from this

in recent years, i'd say the past 10 years, wayne's creativity, lyricism, rhyme schemes & general approach to songs have reached a point where it can be hard to capture what he's doing and saying on first listen since those aspects of his creativity aren't as surface level as they used to be before, therefore, it does take a few listens to understand - and that's why things grow on people - this is true for all things in life, like being able to appreciate a movie differently after multiple watches - you catch more things etc

also i don't think this is true for every wayne song, i'm not excusing some songs that are genuinely bad but at the same time i recognise some songs that i think are bad is just my opinion, some other people will love them.. that speaks to wayne's diversification & subjectivity of music. and because of this i'm not going to deny other people's experience of liking something. we're all different and like different things. let people like this album if they like it instead of ridiculing them and labelling their opinions invalid lol we're all wayne fans bro we're all fam here

but i do agree with you about his subject matter being stale bro!

onething i noticed though is wayne has become more vulnerable.. for example if you've been following wayne's music for a while, he used to talk about his grandmother mercedes carter a lot, but in this album he opened up for the first time how she died: he said he saw herself drink herself to death.. i thought this was interesting since how wayne almost drunk himself to death (lean)

also he touches on his father beating his mom etc and mentions again how he shot himself unaccidentally

subject matter for the most part is still the same but defo more vulnerable lately

              • It's often the case that music grows on you, especially when it's music that you've had hopes for that turns out to be something other than what you were anticipating. Some of us can enjoy things about the project whilst recognising that it isn't what we'd really hoped for, without deciding that the artist is "washed up".

                • It seems we're now in the cope phase where people have had enough time with the album to convince themselves that it's good, but I'm not going for that. This album has 6-7 songs that are listenable. Every other track has something in it that makes them obviously worse.

If 'Fix Before Tha IV' didn't exist, this would be the worst project he's released in his career imo. Funeral, C5, FWA, D5, D6 all clear this by a lot.

Literally just trying to cope/deal with something. Like people here are saying if you don't hate the album as much as they do and feel that it's growing on you then you're just deluding yourself and don't want to admit that you really don't like it. It can't just be that you have different a different opinion/attitude, it's just "cope".

Apparently some of us don’t remember IANAHB2. I still liked that album overall and a handful of songs are fire. Everyone (casual fans or haters) would roast us if we tried to defend him then. Go listen to Wowzers and then try to tell me Peanuts 2 N Elephant is his worst song he’s ever made. This isn’t even close to his worst work.
