Go listen to Wowzers and then try to tell me Peanuts 2 N Elephant is his worst song he’s ever made. This isn’t even close to his worst work.
Yeah IANAHB2 was so hated, now it's spoken about as being ahead of its time and full of bangers.

C6 is being hated so much because expectations were so high especially after all the great feature verses we've been getting for the past few years and stuff. If it was called IANAHB 3 or something the reactions wouldn't be so hysterical.

I do think it is the worst Carter album though, it's hard to listen to front to back even if I can enjoy all of the songs. The structure is bad, most of the beats aren't all that and most of the songs with features either feel quite generic or like Wayne is just a feature on the song with one verse and adlibs.

I get him wanting to have his kids on it but they could have been bonus tracks or something.

The album feels way less passionate than C5. I feel like there isn't anything as raw and relentless as Mona Lisa, as touching/emotional as Let It All Work Out or Open Letter, or focused as Can't Be Broken or Dedicate, nothing as catchy as Uproar, nothing that's just a vibe with bars like Hittas or a classic Wayne hook on a nice beat like Took His Time, nothing with the sort of legendary nostalgic feeling of Dope New Gospel.

There are songs which I do really like, like Bein Myself, and I like some of the songs others hate like Island Holiday but yeah.

We all know that there are way better songs they could have chosen for a Carter album. They didn't do a great job with that. Mack used to get so much hate for song selection but looking back he did a great job.

Wayne doesn't give a shit about album structure and all that, he needs to get people working for him who do. And it's just ridiculous that nowadays younger rappers who are fans and get him on their songs choose better beats for him and get more impactful verses than what he puts on his own album.

sometimes what happens is when we're comparing things to other things we don't see things in its purity: it creates preconceived notions and expectations.. & when these aren't met we're disappointed and automatically label things as bad

if we're comparing c6 to wayne's old bangers on our first listen then it clouds our judgement, we aren't listening to it purely or presently, there's subconscious comparisons that affect how we're digesting things. so yes it can take a few listens to remove ourselves from this

in recent years, i'd say the past 10 years, wayne's creativity, lyricism, rhyme schemes & general approach to songs have reached a point where it can be hard to capture what he's doing and saying on first listen since those aspects of his creativity aren't as surface level as they used to be before, therefore, it does take a few listens to understand - and that's why things grow on people - this is true for all things in life, like being able to appreciate a movie differently after multiple watches - you catch more things etc

also i don't think this is true for every wayne song, i'm not excusing some songs that are genuinely bad but at the same time i recognise some songs that i think are bad is just my opinion, some other people will love them.. that speaks to wayne's diversification & subjectivity of music. and because of this i'm not going to deny other people's experience of liking something. we're all different and like different things. let people like this album if they like it instead of ridiculing them and labelling their opinions invalid lol we're all wayne fans bro we're all fam here

but i do agree with you about his subject matter being stale bro!

onething i noticed though is wayne has become more vulnerable.. for example if you've been following wayne's music for a while, he used to talk about his grandmother mercedes carter a lot, but in this album he opened up for the first time how she died: he said he saw herself drink herself to death.. i thought this was interesting since how wayne almost drunk himself to death (lean)

also he touches on his father beating his mom etc and mentions again how he shot himself unaccidentally

subject matter for the most part is still the same but defo more vulnerable lately
man fuck all that shit he talking. You had that it right in the beginning. I cant stand that shit. If im enjoying it why are you trying to force your opinion on everyone else that YOU dont ike it. Cool thats YOU that aint gonna listen. thats why i instantly started listening before mad reviews came out. The hate is def forced. first day talking to people about the album a LOT of people said “ i got like through 2-5 songs” yea you started seeing the hate on the net and aint wanna be seeing enjoying an album most shitting on and on top of that never finished listening to the whole project themselves. Literally, the intensity of the hate was the social media hive mind that most people seem to be a part of nowadays, people afraid to express anything other than hate because they don't want to be 'clowned' or judged by the mob. People were literally online asking for other people to tell them what to think before they had even listened to the album. People who listened to three songs saying Wayne is washed up etc. So much of it comes from the hysterical kendrick stans and people just follow along.

I'm seeing this trend now of people trying to discredit Wayne's whole legacy, saying his music has aged badly etc. and that he was a bad influence on hip hop. But we know Wayne has always had lots of haters and that a lot of people who say they're fans are fickle as fuck.

If people don't like the album then whatever, but anyone who adopts someone else's opinion about music that they actually enjoy themselves just to fit in is just pathetic.

                      • I think Wayne is going to be done with Tha Carter series after this.

He only called this album C6 because of the Carter name and how those albums for him always do well.

But I feel a shift has happened now and we won't get a Carter 7.
