  • Tribute To 2Pac

Today is a very special day, and that is the birth of one Hip Hop's most legendary artist, 2Pac.

Tupac Amaru Shakur [June 16, 1971 - September 13, 1996] was mostly known for being one of the most legendary Hip Hop/Rap artist of all time. Mostly known as his stage names, 2Pac [Pac for short] and Makaveli, has sold over 75 million (75,000,000) copies of his albums all over the world. Pac was also a well known actor and a social activist. Many of 2Pac's songs were very meaningful. Topics include hard times in the ghetto, problems in the world such as racism, and beef with other rappers. 2Pac was soon hammered with many legal conflicts. In 1994, Makaveli was shot five times and robbed in a recording studio in New York City. Talk about the scene that took place in New York City helped spark the rivalry of the East Coast and West Coast rappers in the music industry.

Shakur was convicted of sexual assualt and sentenced to a year and a half to four and a half years in prison. After serving 11 months in prison, the rapper was released from prison by Marion Knight, the CEO of Death Row Records.

Tupac got his name from "Tupac Amaru II". His parents names were "Afeni Shakur" and "Billy Garland". His mother seperated and married a man named "Mutulu Shakur". 2Pac's name on many sources is list as "Lesane Parish Crooks" because his mother believed her enemies would harm her son. Shakur was born in East Harlem section of Manhattan, in New York City.

2Pac owns a world record, as of today, selling over 75 million album copies worldwide.

Pac was shot at in Las Vegas, Nevada [September 7, 1996] after a boxing match. The shooter is still unknown to this day, but many believe it was the Compton Crips. The hype about this case is still going on to this day, and many still wonder who killed the great legend.

Today, if it weren't for Tupac, we wouldn't have all the amazing artists we have many of these amazing Hip Hop artists to remember, or to have today:

    DJ Screw
    Lil Wayne
    50 Cent
    Eminem
    Master P
    Juvenile

    and a load more.....

    R.I.P. 2PAC
