  • Top Ten MC's debate

got into a heated debate about who is number one, he asked me to explain why i think wayne is the greatest MC to ever touch a mic. now he doesnt argue anymore lol
    this was my response...

I believe Lil Wayne is the best MC of all time. as far as technical rapping skills, no one has reached the level that he reached in 07'. Reason being, when taking into account, the 5 aspects of being an MC, Wayne overall has the most impressive skill set.
5 aspects of being an MC
    1. Lyrical dexterity
    2. Flow
    3. Delivery
    4. Creativity
    5. Diversity
Now i would like to address a very important point. Content/Message has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with your ability to be a great MC. Sure it has a lot to do with rapping for a cause (immortal), using music as a vessel to be a political activist (Chuck D). Sending a message is vital when trying to empower the people (Tupac Shakur) or when one is being consciously aware through music (common, lupe). Art by definition is, the product or process of arranging symbolic elements to influence/affect the human senses. MC'ing is an Art. Compare the art of MC'ing to the masterful paintings of Picasso. Are the greatest works of Picasso critiqued by the message behind the art? NO, there is no message or meaning, it is the aesthetic quality and the creative nuances that makes a piece of art great. Same goes for Hip Hop and the works of an MC.
I’ll break down each category, and explain why Wayne is the best.
1- Lyrical Dexterity, the ability to craft complex rhyme schemes and push the English language to the brink of its capacities. Wayne’s use of metaphors, puns, similes, and liquid non sequiturs are unparallel. He has the strongest grasp over literary devices in this history of Hip Hop.
2- Flow, ones ability to stay/orchestrate lyrics over a beat. Over his 14 years in the game, Wayne has mastered his flow, and the creativity of his cadences are revolutionary.
3- Delivery, ones power/presence on the mic, the ability to hit the listeners ear drums with powerful end rhymes. Wayne is known for emphasizing his words, and presenting a very demanding delivery.
4- Creativity- the ability to create innovative ideas and convert them into rhyme. Wayne’s creativity is what has taken him farther than most of the great rappers that have control of the 3 previous categories. Wayne has brought many original, creative, and revolutionary verses that have changed the way people view the modern MC.
5- Diversity, the ability to be musically diverse. There is no one in hip hop, and maybe the history of music, that is more diverse than Dwayne Michael Carter jr.

That is why many proclaim him to be the best MC ever.

Wow epic fail.. Rakim, Canibus, and Eminem all shit on Lil Wayne... I dont even need to name more

Wayne has simliar flows on allmost every song.. He couldnt make a dope storytelling song to save his life.
He uses the same subjects in his raps over and over and over.. All he does is use simple minded wordplay with even simpler metaphors. And look at his verses every other bar he is talking about something completely different then the last he cant stay on topic at all.. Hell he doesnt even use topics he just says random shit

a fool divorces his knowledge and misses the logic
And loses his soul in the process
obsessed with nonsense with a caricature that has no content
    My style is masterful, multi-lateral
I could battle a fool and be naturally cruel
Words of scourn are a disasterous tool
from an existentialists view, Im a better rapper then you
Grab the mic and rip your physical fabric in 2

I got ice in my veins, blood in my eyes
Hate in my heart, love in my mind
I seen nights full of pain, days of the same
You keep the sunshine, save me the rain
I search but never find, hurt but never cry
I work and forever try, but I’m cursed, so never mind
And it’s worse, but better times seem further and beyond
