    Re: Best Rapper Debate Thread

Wayne and Em are pretty much equal to me music wise. I like Wayne better because of his swag. But if i had to pick one of them based on just there music i wouldnt be able to do it.

I respect your opinion, you're a fan. There is just nothing concrete other than fan's opinions that say Wayne IS better than Jay or Em. Let's look @ Jay, Like the facts I stated earlier, he has had 11 No.1 album, has won multiple grammy awards and has gone platinum a bunch of times. Wayne ok, has won a grammy, gone platinum, but he's no way near on the same calibre as Jay. What I just stated there makes me feel Jay is better than Wayne. It's just logic.

I'd pick Weezy hands down. Em has bangers but IMO Wayne is a better overall artist, excluding record sales.

@The Resistance look at the age difference, Once Wayne is Jays age he'll have more albums platinum and more Grammies.

I'm not trying to start something I just want to hear other peoples reasons why they feel Wayne is better than Jay or Em.
So i guess i'm in the "lovestruck stan" because wayne is the best rapper ever IMO? there isn't such thing as a "best rapper alive or ever" because at the end of the day it comes down to opinions and just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean that there wrong or your right. seems like your the lovestuck stan because you mention that jay & em is great by bringing up sales when in reality that doesn't really mean nothing.

Sales don't mean a thing? They determine a rappers popularity, how many people listen to that artist, if people like him etc. Jay has sold waaaaaaaaaaay more than Wayne. Therefore I feel he is better. I mean, I'll listen to people who make valid points. I can't take you seriously because you listed Drake and Kid Cudi as HM as the 'Best Rappers'

WOW. Obviously Jay is better then Wayne at this point in time, He's had like a 10 year head start, However alot of people still think Wayne shit's on Jay. Just imagine Wayne in 10 years.

Sales means nothing when it comes down to talent. Sales are determine by popularity and popularity means mainstream and anyone with a pop beat, good hooks and a big name as a feature can be mainstream. vanilla ice has one of the best selling rap albums of all time, does that make him one of rap greats? nah i don't think so.

                          Re: Best Rapper Debate Thread

The best rapper right now is Blu, in my opinion. I just don't think anyone can match his wordplay, storytelling, song meaning, and flow. Additionally his projects all have different sounds and he's got music for almost every mood you can think of haha. Plus, he's a hell of a producer. Also, Below The Heavens is widely considered as one of the most slept on albums in the last decade and can easily be considered a modern day classic.

Other nominees: Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Jay-Z, MF DOOM, Jay Electronica, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, & J. Cole

My favorite rapper is J. Cole simply because I have a lot in common with him and he's the only rapper that I've met. He's very humble and cool. I am able to relate to a lot of his music and I feel like I can learn from some of his mistakes and successes that he mentions in his songs to better myself.

Other nominees: Blu, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, & Jay-Z, KiD CuDi

Kanye West and Lil Wayne are the two rappers whose work ethic I admire the most. We all know Wayne's dedication to what he does. Dude records almost everywhere he goes, has radio hit after radio hit, hops on so many artists' songs, and has a ridiculous amount of material. Kanye has really impressed me this year. The G.O.O.D. Friday series provides us with amazing free music with allstar lineups and some beautiful beats. On top of that, he's put together two albums this year with his solo album and collaborative album with Jay-Z (in progress). Oh, and the guy put together a fairly decent short movie. He has also inspired me to be more open minded about other people's opinions and styles.
