I know how you guys feel but lemme try to shed some light on my thoughts on Detox
Okay so first up is I know it's different to the last Dre shit you heard, but let's be realistic it's been a decade since that and as we ALL know artists change directions musically and personally so you gotta know that it would be very different maybe not different in a way that you may be used to from him but 10 years is a fuck long time I mean look at how much Wayne changed from his first album to what he releases now? Not to mention Dre's getting pretty old for musician terms in rap.
I think although Detox isn't going to be a straight up classic (could be? we don't know yet..) or like Chronic but we've heard two songs so far out of the whole album. We all know it has hip hops finest lyricists on the album and they all know this album is big (in terms of lyrical pressure to perform) so I think it's safe to assume that the lyrics will be good. I personally think it'll be a great album, far better than most the shit hip hop throws out these days. I mean the two songs still have been really really good mainstream hits yet they still punch real hip hop in them unlike most the artists these days because most artists these days put a very catchy beat and dumb down lyrics and talk about bullshit yet at least I need a doctor has content and good lyrics and still tells a great story not many artists in the industry can do that anymore. AND has a best rap video i've seen for a very long time.
I think Detox is going down well, I always told myself never to hype the album up too much because it'll never reach anyones "hype" or "expectations" but this doesn't mean to say it won't be a very good album.
