when crank dat came out i wasn't in to it. i'm not in to a lot of southern rap and for a while these kind of songs were all that was coming out below the bible belt.
i started giving him some leeway due to the fact that he's freakin hilarious on his old youtube videos, and the 500K freestyles were very entertaining.
THEN, i started actually admitting the dude has some talent once he released the song with the tiger woods line... which soulja boy followed up with about 5 garbage ass tapes which put a nail in the coffin for me.
all in all, i think the kid's a talented producer, & has a knack for catchy hooks, but other than that he possesses no other skill. and while that may keep him around for a bit, that wave will dry up, just as it did for every other artist like him. ie, lil jon.
but you can't change people's tastes, so might as well just sit back and wait until a washed up soulja boy is cast on dancing with the stars.

i feel what your saying.....but i still like soulja's new shit. obviously hes not a lyricist, but the vibe and and style of it is pretty coo in my opinion
its all a matter of opinion
and crank dat?! damn that was a banger back in the day
I can understand people maybe digging Crank Dat, Kiss Me Thru The Phone & Blowing Me Kisses for a day or two but some of you have to be taking the piss "liking" him like Lil B etc lol. No one can seriously like clowns like this, Gucci etc, if they do they truly don't understand hip hop or music IMO.
Yup, I just got this gem "cause your from fucking scotland get the fuck out of here go listen to bagpipes and wear kilts bitch" for inferring that Soulja boy was a poor rapper lol
^ You know what, I'll give it a download tommorow, listen with an open mind and hope that I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm not closed minded, just skeptical of his "talents" lol.
Also thank you to whoever just neg repped me with this beautifully crafted reason "cause your from fucking scotland get the fuck out of here go listen to bagpipes and wear kilts bitch". A fine example of why the repper/neg repper should be public IMO, not that that would actually help that sad individual in any shape or form.
kiss me thru the phone, blowing me kisses, and crank dat are all gay as fuck. Gucci was a lot better if you listen to his older stuff, he used to go harder. i negrepped you, you seem kinda pissed based on the multiple posts about it. i was just fucking around, hit me back, i could give a fuck. but zan with that lean is better than any of the songs you named if only for the direction souljas goin. the more mainstream artists start openly talking about the drugs they enjoy, the better imo. the neg rep was mostly for hating on gucci, but also for saying kiss me thru the phone and blowing me kisses are understandable while this isnt. to me, that gives you the ears of a twelve year old girl. or at least, the musical taste of one. do you also enjoy justin bieber? rebecca black? no, jp. forreal though, saying kiss me thru the phone and blowing me kisses is straight is worthy of a negrep.
EDIT: just noticed you actually thanked me for that comment. you're welcome, bruh.

Depends on taste. I dislike JB as a person but the hook of Baby is pop gold. Likewise "Friday" is catchy underneath the horror show video and hilarious lame-ness of it. I love the first 10 seconds of Friday lol.
I will always put melody first and everything else second. I'm all for discussing drugs openly, but Zan With That Lean is weak on my ears.
I'm a sucker for a good hook, because that's what gets a song stuck in your head. That's not just for pop though, "street bangers" like Hustle Hard appeal to my musicality aswell because it sticks with you. I forget how Zan With That lean goes already, I know exactly how Kiss Me Thru The Phone & Blowing Me Kisses Go, and they have 5 combined playcount on my Itunes. Doesn't make them better songs, that's opinion, but they stand out as his closest to actual songs. Most of his album tracks sound like throw-away fuck arounds, Gucci Bandana is one of the worst things I've ever heard for example.
Neg rep away, I just don't like the anonymity of it. If your gonna neg rep me, explain why and stick your name and there's no issue.
However if you were the guy who started ranting about me being scottish and wearing a kilt and playing bagpipes (not offensive at all, just the aggressive tone of it was completely OTT) then that was out of order but I digress. I've actually had 3 negs and 5 positives during this Soulja boy debate lol, crazy shit.
I'll get his new tape tommorow as I said, and while I'm at it, I might just cop some early Gucci. But I have his Trap-House album or whatever and couldn't believe some record exec let it through, absolute trash IMO.
