A Harbor City California man, who was behind the leaking of Kanye West’s third studio release, Graduation, in 2007 has entered a guilty plea for conspiracy to commit copyright infringement.
The leak originated from a file upload to an underground music site, “Old School Classics”, while Montejano was working at a disc manufacturing plant for Universal Music Group. Investigators have uncovered more than 27,000 unauthorized files from his Montejano’s computer that could be worth up to $30,000.
If convicted, Rick Montejano faces up to 5 years in federal prison, 3 years of parole and a hefty $250,000 fine—a lot to pay for a few moments of fame.
