Do accents take away/add on to your flow?

I rap, but my dad is Jamaican and my mom is from the Islands.
So, there is a bit of an accent in my voice...

I think people with like a New York dialect, and shit make better rappers.
But it just sucks when you can't do anything about it.

Like it seems the only rappers that make it far are the ones with the raspy voice such as Lil Chuckee, Wayne, Jeezy, Ross, and others, or the ones with the deep ass voice like Tyler, Z-RO and such. Or the ones with the certain dialect/accent like Jay Z and Kanye.

So back on point, does voice matter?
Like if Wayne didn't have the voice he did now, and he had some other voice, but rapped all the same lines he does today, would he be as popular?

its all about delivery, be as natural as you can but also confident and aggressive and it'll be good. Accent or not.
